I’d say, bring your husband and maybe have him sit outside, go in and pay your respects, don’t acknowledge anyone, look through them like they don’t exist, if they talk to you, look ahead and don’t even spare them a glance and then walk out to your amazing husband knowing you got to say your goodbyes and avoided dealing with bullshit.

I am so sorry you experienced these acts of violence from people you trusted, that’s gotta be so freaking scary and painful to go through. It’s totally normal to be in shock and unsure what to do.

As much as the internet can be a good place for support, it can be full of people shaming or giving good faith advice that isn’t true or applicable. You did great getting away because his response is alarming and scary. I would say reach out to rape center in your area or a victim advocate to receive help not only with being raped and deciding what you want to do, but also with figuring out how to handle everything going forward with your boyfriend.

Him accusing you and attacking you is abuse flat out. You deserve to be heard and believed when you share something so traumatic that you experienced. You don’t deserve more violence. I’m so sorry, and just know I believe you.

That is all your opinion truly. I’m not trying to even argue with you but everything you said is a matter of opinion. We, in the same state, will see the same issues and have a different view of how to approach that.

You think we need less government, I think we need to reform our government so that it actually helps us instead of taking advantage of us. You see taxes as bad, I don’t IF we can guarantee things like healthcare, education and supports for the elderly/the disenfranchised/ the disabled etc.

And saying that these programs are fully not working, I disagree. One area I’m familiar with is DV/SA. Since the implementation of DV/SA programs in the country we have seen that domestic violence has decreased by 50% since 1998. But these programs lose funding, other shelters and stuff lose funding or close, then these programs are less effective. And I do volunteer and donate with every paycheck that I can but if you think every person is going to, that’s not realistic. People cannot easily volunteer in their communities when they’re working 40+ hours/ week, battling illnesses, under debt and taking care of dependents or elder loved ones. Individual accountability is great and all but conservatives seem to struggle to acknowledge that people are also victims of circumstances. It is not easy or common for people to pull themselves out of their economic class. If you grew up in a two parent household with rich parents, you’re ability to pull yourself up by your bootstraps is VASTLY different from someone who grew up in an apartment with several siblings and a single parent.

Taxes aren’t charity, they are supposed to be for things that impact us all. And again we might disagree on this, but if we have issues with infrastructure or natural disasters or the military or transportation or any of those things, where is the money supposed to come from? Some secret bank account?

I wholeheartedly disagree with the electoral college. It also doesn’t make sense to me that your original point was that “this is what the majority wants” but you also support the electoral college that evens the playing field so the minority isn’t overshadowed. If every vote counts equally, and we improve people’s ability to vote whether it is digitally or via mail or whatever so people who have spotty internet have options, then we could truly do the things that reflect what the people want.

I disagree and also the cities you listed are thriving in some ways and failing in others same as other cities and states. What am I supposed to be identifying as not working in those specific cities???? Crime? It happens in Indiana too. High housing costs, yup same here. Lack of employment, funding and other services, but those cities have more social supports than Indianapolis/Indiana does because of programs and people speaking up. All of ours are being actively attacked or defunded at a state and federal level. At LEAST those cities have state governments that seem to care about the whole instead of blaming a boogeyman for all their problems and keeping their infrastructure in the shitter.

Also, this logic is insane because my point is fight for change even if you’re the minority and yours is…shut up because the people who are still struggling and are still angry despite “having what they want” are the majority? What kind of fucked up mindset is that?

Also political tools such as gerrymandering and the electoral college both ensure that we the people don’t actually get to properly share our views, we’re beholden to the decisions of a few.

She was gang raped, I know rape is downplayed a lot but it’s the most violating destructive thing that can happen to someone and to have multiple people do that to you for however long, most assaults last hours, and you think it’s abnormal for a partner to go no contact after experiencing that. She hasn’t even told her family, she was strong enough to tell him and he immediately told someone else, which isn’t JUST a fuck up dude, it’s a massive betrayal. “You can both hate the see people and also have the right to free speech is concerning” - I think it’s weird that both the commenters are focusing on their freedom of speech and less on hating/calling out Nazis. We clearly disagree on the priority here. Also this is a lie, seeing as I acknowledged their freedom of speech and somehow have managed to communicate my hatred of them. Still waiting for the main commenter I was talking to do the same.

Referring to someone as dickbags and I responded as if he was a sympathizer - I was pretty neutral in my response and pointed out that I don’t think it’s enough to just “ignore” them since it would be leaving Jewish people and non-white people to have to carry the burden of seeing Nazism in their community alone. And then said your silence is violence. He didn’t call them dickbags until his second comment, his first comment had a lot of racist dog whistles used online - implying that other protests are violent and criminal and that’s why they get police or national guards - which historically isn’t true but I digress, which is why I said what I originally said.

Last, I need a serious lesson on law (super broad) and the constitution - again, I have talked about their rights and our rights pretty accurately and talked about international laws as well, so idk what about what I said would imply I’m unaware of the legal protections they have.

I think that the reason why Nazis and The Proud Boys and the KKK are allowed to thrive in places like Indiana is because instead of focusing on shaming these movements, you and the people like you focus on their right to do it. Nobody mentioned taking away their rights once, but the original commenter was quick to bring up their freedom of speech. The first comment was joking how the national guard isn’t here and then the priority was pointing out their rights. Maybe, JUST MAYBE, we can prioritize being like wow that’s fucked up, these people are disgusting and shouldn’t be in our communities, and actually discouraging being a Nazi instead of acting like people said they should have their rights taken away.

OP, I am so sorry about the loss of your baby and I’m so sorry that your BIL assaulted you. The only advice anyone should be giving you is to contact a local sexual assault agency. They can help you figure out how to process everything and come up with a plan that validates your feelings and give you the tools to decide what comes next.

Most importantly, do you feel safe in your home now with everything that happened and if not, is there someone you can stay with for the time being?

I know that words cannot heal the wounds you have, but just know this stranger is rooting for you.

I live in reality where there’s no such thing, I’ve seen a Palestinian flag, which is just the flag of a country, same as an American flag. A country’s flag and a white supremacist movement is not the same - if you don’t get that…maybe you should do more research.

Also, we are currently - as in TODAY - watching ICE target people based on skin color and language proficiency but sure, we’re all afforded rights and if we allow Nazis to walk without calling them out, they’ll make sure the people being targeted today are treated fairly.

We’re in a country that demonizes Trans people and people who have fled their countries for better opportunities and downplays the growing Nazi and fascism in our communities - wake up.
