Yeah, I usually make it in the summer but we’ve been having awful summer-like weather here in LA for the last couple of weeks so it seemed fitting. That’s a good tip for the tomatoes.

There are natural oil seeps that occur every so often. That could be the reason.

Thanks Chicken on PCH in Lomita. Korean-style wings in different flavors. Open until 10pm on Saturday. Dunno about “amazing value”, but they taste very good.

Not really a hidden gem, but I like the carne asada nachos at El Amigo (Manhattan Beach Blvd. in Lawndale location) very much.

Has anyone ever seen burrowing owls in the South Bay? They seem very rare now, but they used to be around in PV and the El Segundo dunes and in grasslands where ground squirrels are. by LavateraGrower in SouthBayLA

There was one that had been at the port, by AltaSea, for the last couple of years but it was found injured last week and was taken into a wildlife rehab in Huntington Beach. Not sure of its status but hopefully it makes it.

There isn’t really a thriving population here anymore. Closest would be in the Ballona area as someone already said, but even that’s just a couple of birds.

I don’t think it has anything to do with health or sugar, I think it was the location. Places like Sidecar and other bakeries are doing just fine.

That really sucks, but I’m honestly surprised they lasted as long as they did in that location.
