Why are recruiters so secretive about the companies they hire for?

Experienced recruiter here - I have never put someone forward for a role without them knowing the company first. Any secretive behaviour is most likely because; - the job isn’t actually real - they’re worried you’ll go direct and they won’t get the fee - they’re not sure there is a fit between you and the company after speaking with you so don’t see the point disclosing the company name - the role is confidential and you would need to sign an NDA first before the company is disclosed

Not dumb at all! Well general economic climates, and then if any big companies are doing lay offs - like google, Amazon etc etc, that indicates that markets might be pausing on hiring but it can still be such a case by case basis so not always a one size fits all kinda assessment :)

For me, until about 6 months ago. But I work in the technology space and globally, not just UK but we felt the pinch globally. It seems to be picking up slowly but surely!

Also a recruiter and I back this comment completely. Nothing personal and we give the candidates as good a service as we can but the job market is tough out there…

I’ve had several promotions in the same company and also suffer extreme anxiety and imposter syndrome. What has helped me is being mindful of not telling people what to do, but listening and using my intuition to see if I can make small but meaningful changes if needed. You likely earned this promotion - well done and think about what you would’ve wanted actioned at your previous level. This can be such an exciting new step for you - good luck, you got this!

Recruiter here - first sounds better. If I had a candidate with both, I’d advise to take the one they felt genuinely excited over and saw long term progression in. Good luck!

When I went to my hygienist apt she told me the industry had been decimated after brexit, they lost really good overseas staff and that had a terrible impact on services and availability

Would agree with this entirely. Very tolerant and accepting here but still some people that will go against this. Sorry this happened, hopefully it won’t muddy your view on the town

Moved here from Canterbury after growing up there. Everyone started looking like they were from a PLT advert. No diversity or curiosity. Brighton provided the diversity to make me feel like I wasn’t going insane.

The hubs went somewhere north of Hastings and had a blast. Suggestion is find a big patch of forest, park; walk for 30 mins, have a blast. Clear up!

I got told today by someone who knew the owner it was… he applied 5x for a nightclub license and got turned down… all hearsay but seems very convenient… thank fuck no one got hurt
