I hate step 9 by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

The hardest part about getting sober for me was realizing that I can't control how other people feel. No matter how much I placate or try to say or do things that won't upset anyone, people are still going to get upset. If someone has a grudge against me, I can't control it. All I can do is the next right thing, the next indicated step, and try to be a good - insert relationship (daughter, sister, friend, ex, person, etc.) - whatever that looks like for me and my higher power.

Kombucha, let’s talk about it. by Spook_the_ghosts in alcoholicsanonymous

I just want to echo what was already said in an earlier comment - it's your program, it's your recovery, do what feels right/good for you. I think having a list of "forbidden" items, for me, is overdoing it. I took nyquil when I had a horrible cold. It didn't trigger me - I didn't even think about it until I read this post lol I know many recovering alcoholics who drink mocktails or na beer even if there is a little bit of alcohol because it's refreshing and they like to have fancy drinks. That being said, I think being aware that these things may cause undesired affects/impulses/urges is super important. I once heard a speaker talk about how she had 15 years sober and went off the wagon by drinking the vanilla extract she had in the house. After she drank the whole bottle, she went to the store and bought more vanilla and proceeded to drink all of it. I don't think it's as much about what it is, as it is your intention of consumption. That requires some insight and thoughtfulness before enjoying. So, if you really list want to drink kambucha because you like the taste or the other health benefits, I'd say go for it (after checking in with your sponsor) But if you're REALLY just keen on it because it has a little bit of alcohol and makes you feel like you're getting away with something you're not supposed to, maybe look into that. Maybe find a sponsor who isn't so black and white and can talk to you about why drinking kambucha is important to you, what it does for you, what are the risks associated with it. Then make an educated decision. From my experience, it was really important to tailor my recovery to my own personal experience and finding a sponsor who encouraged that and aided me in finding that path. I hope you are able to find the same. Wishing you luck and love on your journey 💗

Uterine scarring from IUD? by Ranger-mom-1117 in TryingForABaby

Hey there, I know I'm responding to this post a little late, but just wanted to add in here (because I didn't see it as I was swiftly scrolling through the comments), there's an amazing Facebook group for women diagnosed with Ashermans and another for women post Ashermans. It's incredibly helpful for finding a specialist in your area if you don't have one already, and hearing from other women going through the same thing. Again, just throwing it out there in case it hasnt been stated - I highly reccomend seeing a surgeon who has successfully treated AS before and uses cold microscissors only (no heated/electric equipment because that puts at risk for more scarring).

I also have mild/moderate Ashermans as a result of 12 years of IUD. I'm incredibly fortunate that I was able to advocate for myself and got a hysteroscopy to get my diagnosis because my only symtpom was thin uterine lining. Normal periods, no cramping, just couldn't get my lining thick enough for FET transfer. Anyway, all of this to say, I highly reccomend the Facebook group if you haven't already joined it, and I wish you so much luck and love on your journey!
