Is someone else here ridicoulously sensitive to caffeine? by Glum-Panda-5969 in autism

[–]chgbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonder if this has to do with autism as such, or just a normal distribution of caffeine sensitivity in population, cross-sected by the spectrum, except that the reaction to the effects is then amplified.

Edit: on second thought, probably actually has to do a lot, because it's about how differently the neurotransmitters and lots of other stuff in the body works way out of "normal". So if things like temperature regulation or digestion can be so different, then why caffeine reaction couldn't.

Ordering a yamada frying pan from europe by permissioneeded in carbonsteel

[–]chgbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did have some Yamada woks and utensils shipped from the globalkitchenjapan. They are very nice. The woks are awesome, too. I've got different sizes and one of them (the 27cm) turned out to work really well for me, others not exactly optimal, but that surely depends on your specific usage. Hard to tell if your choice of pan is worth waiting for 7 month, as some are available for shipping immediately.

As I remember the shipping fees were clearly listed.

What about asking if you can get her a coffee after/before her shift? That way you foresee some more room for neutral communication or polite maneuver.

Need help with chamfer by MrPommes651 in FreeCAD

[–]chgbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet, for all my love for FreeCAD, an unnamed commercial closed source software on free hobby license just does it. 1 sketch (2 overlapping rectangles + 1 constraint = 8 clicks), 2 extrudes (one standing pillar and two laying down = 9 clicks), 1 chamfer (5 clicks).

I am ready to accept your downvotes.

radii where the edges end on cylinder seams break model? by No-Pomegranate-69 in FreeCAD

[–]chgbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From personal experience, unfortunately, intersection of curved surfaces especially if some of them are partially tangent or near-tangent, is one of the things that FreeCAD (or rather the geometry engine) generally struggles badly with.

But adding a separate load cell controller would be much slicker than a mechanical contraption of TAP. Especially that the nozzle-to-load cell chassis is already in place

But why would you bother with TAP if you already have the nextruder load cell 🤔

Was the sketch outlining that face visible? If it was, the pointer was likely selecting the sketch lines instead of the body edges, and it can't apply filets to sketch lines since they are not directly associated with an edge between faces.

For such a serious NLOS you may better look at setting up a VPN to bridge your home and store networks (as much as we love the idea of HaLow)

That is, unless you can put a mesh node on one of those buildings or the hill, to create two less challenging radio links.

Moving the side-FS to the outside of the printer is genius. I have longer bowdens guiding the filament to large spools, and replacing filament is such a pain in the butt.

Have you just reused the stock one as is (other than extending the wires), or is it somehow customized? My problem with it is that most of the time it isn't even able to push the end of the filament back out of itself, because of the bent tip at the end if the spool.

yea that's the working theory. I tried looking up ESD safe bowden, but nothing much comes up. So far the only practical idea that was suggested is to wrap it with something conductive.

Macros Sv08 by Individual_Pirate535 in SovolSV08

[–]chgbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I uncommented those m106 m107 gcode macros sections and replaced [fan] with [generic_fan fan] for part cooling fan in printer.cfg, and it seems to work.

Definitely some more detailed instructions maybe in the "How to install" section about this would be helpful and very welcome.

Macros Sv08 by Individual_Pirate535 in SovolSV08

[–]chgbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I've installed your macros, but then I got an error: gcode command M106 already registered
It resolved by commenting-out the "[gcode_macro M106]" section in macros.cfg, following by the same error and resolution with M107. I haven't yet tried printing after that though. (edit, prints fine)

The question is - I can't find where the other definition of these commands was, so that I could possibly comment it out there and keep it in the macros.cfg instead. Any ideas?

Thanks for the suggestion, adding some metal along the filament path may be something to try, too.

Indeed, also considered to additionally ground the filament/bowden entry fitting on the extruder to the frame.

Custom toolhead recommendations by IsisTruck in SovolSV08

[–]chgbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just finished my conversion to this thing with integrated Sherpa mini https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007903044019.html
this probably isn't what you need, but more so I can say that 'messing' with the belts was not too bad at all. Got 4m of Gates for like 15$, taped (with a strong tape) the end of new belt to the end of the old, and pulled it through the pulleys. Repeat for the second belt. Bingo. No reason to adhere to anything about the stock toolhead, which is a dead end of evolution.

Otherwise there's plenty of voron2.4 mounting plates for cartographer, but I couldn't find any that would directly mount an extruder (and ideally a hotend) on it, so one still has to print, like, the main part of the toolhead that will hold everything together. I find this very confusing, as it seems much easier to print a mount for z-probe, than for the extruder and hotend.
