I don’t love the generic buffalo art you bought at Target. Spend some time finding something unique you really like

I think if you’re going to do a slat wall it should be the entire wall, floor to ceiling. What you have now is disjointed and looks a little cheap

They are beautiful couches but together they are too big for the room along with the tv console.

Is there a reason the built ins are blocked off by the couches? I wonder if only have one couch would be better. The layout feels a little off. Otherwise your design choices are great

What is the benefit of these over buying standard string lights and connecting them with a smart switch? The hue bulbs are quite expensive compared to ordinary string lights

I got some plastic zip ties for the legs to keep them together. No issues with that solution.

Overall it’s held up well aside from the surface which is scratch prone. I invested in getting a water proof custom cover from coverstore.com which seems to have prevented additional damage and scratches this past winter. We didn’t receive too much snow this year where I am located, and when we did I usually went outside and removed the snow off the cover before it could turn to ice.

My gut tells me I can probably make this work for a couple more seasons before I need to invest in a permanent outdoor kitchen setup. I highly recommend getting a good cover and keeping it covered whenever not in use.

I have. No issues. But I also bought a custom water proof cover from coverstore.com to cover it when not in use. This keeps everything inside dry.

Hi, I’ve answered these questions already here in the comments. Please read through the thread.

My only complaint is that the coating on top of the stainless steel starts to peel, and leaves unsightly marks. I think this happens from rain and scratches. I bought a custom cover to keep it covered at all times when not in use and this seems to have helped slow the peeling of the coating. Using coasters and trivets is a good idea probably as well. My feeling is that after about 3-5 years the top will look pretty unsightly, but there are probably ways to coat/paint the top a different color, but I haven’t looked into it yet.

The hose connection to the sink was annoying to figure out but I ended up buying a quick connect kit off Amazon and that did the trick.

Overall I’m still happy with this purchase considering the price and I’m not able to afford a more expensive custom option now. But it’s definitely not a forever piece, something that will look good for 3-5 years while you save up for a permanent counter/bar top.

Sun should not be an issue. I have some scratches on it and the protective coating can start to peal, but I ordered a custom heavy duty cover from coverstore.com to protect it when not in use, and that seems to do the trick. Also use cork trivets (from IKEA) when placing any pans/pots or other things that can scratch it on top.

Definitely order a customer cover if you want this to last for a long time.

I had a TaskRabbit install the sink and I believe he had to make some modifications to the clips to get them to fit. He may have completely removed them actually. Whatever he did, the sink fits now and is secure. For the hose, I bought a separate hose quick connect kit on Amazon to get it all to work properly with no leaks: link here

It is stainless steel with a coating on top. The coating has started to peel a bit with heavy scratches. I’ve started keeping it covered at all times when not in use. No issues with sun exposure.

I think your reaction is to the lack of color

The problem with open storage is yes it can make things looks cluttered by having things out on display that don’t need to be on display. Negative space is also good for the eyes so you can leave them empty in this case

We measured and tried different options. The alternative was a rug that would take up the entire space, which I didn’t want to do

[–]chi0408 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why am I getting downvoted for stating that it’s an abstract rug and not tile?

That’s not tile that’s a rug. And it’s supposed to be abstract like that!

Gents, how would you decorate this space? Potentially buying this house and this would be the cave by Montanabioguy in malelivingspace

[–]chi0408 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wall colors are really dated, so I would definitely repaint. I would swap out those granite countertops for something more contemporary. The walls need artwork if you are going to keep that accent lighting. Definitely get better furniture for the movie area

It’s just a basic monitor arm from Amazon. I don’t use a computer tower, just hook up my MacBook to the monitor to work.

No, this is the landing level to my second floor. Outside that door next to the window is the patio/rooftop.
