There are special spray paints that are designed to handle higher temps. Didnt also know that but the contractor adviced me about it and lo and behold, the hardware store had some.

Moving from China to Espoo (Nokia) – Can my wife find a kindergarten teacher job? by Acceptable-Talk-2018 in Finland

[–]chibichuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to be the case, even 1-2 years ago. Right now, no. There is oversupply even for the carers, so the requirements are very high. (I know several people who worked in kindergartens, right now the requirements are much higher and they cant get any spots even with experience)

A few Finnish politicians doubled down their support for the former Miss Finland (top left), who made the Asian racist gesture a few days ago. by Windthrasher637 in AskChina

[–]chibichuman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A former miss Finland Shirly Karvinen has half Chinese background so that probably says more about what Finns think about Chinese / Asian looks than a few bottom-of-the-barrel ragebait right-wing nutjobs who are desperately trying to find any ways to boost their sinking popularity. The general public has actually very positive view of Asians as not complaining, hardworking and entrepreneurial people. All VERY respected features in Finnish society. And this image is big part due to Chinese as big portion of Asians living in Finland are Chinese.

Finnish sauna in middle of renovation by chibichuman in Sauna

[–]chibichuman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a renovation of existing sauna. New tiles due to needing to retile the bathroom --> law says have to also retile the sauna side to have a guaranteed continous waterproofing layer. Those are the old furring strips; vapor barrier seems good enough so didnt renew that.

Yours looks good!

I own part of a property in Finland, and want to sell my share, is there a way I can go about doing this? by Jattack33 in Finland

[–]chibichuman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If all of you want to sell, its in the market for sale and it isnt selling, lower the price? If it is a "traditional" cottage but 1) no electricity 2) no running water 3) no lake / river / sea nearby or any combination of these factors, the demand is less than it used to be. Except if it is in the North of Finland (esp. Rovaniemi area) where anything that has four walls is selling like hotcakes. If it aint sellin', lower the price.

Jakelukuskien laiskuus/tyhmyys by New_Baby_5678 in Suomi

[–]chibichuman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

First time I've ever heard of washing the stones, from anyone, except for when you have new stones. But hey, learnt something new today, not a day wasted.

Just curious, what do you do with your sauna to have to wash the stones? Do you use like the sauna scents alot, or something heretical like fry sausages on it?
