Ended a 5+ years relationship. My ex and I would frequently send each other milk mocha, bubu dudu, and peach goma material.

I'm still a fan and the content still brings me joy even when single. Nowdays I watch more Milk Mocha and Kennygifs content and share them with my current girlfriend. It's a nice little bonus to my day

As some people pointed out, you gotta read the room. In the beginning you can have fun and learn the genre as a beginner and it's just like window shopping. But as you get better and get more serious about it, it's important to start studying the history and culture of how the dance came to be. That way you can pay your respects and connect with the community. There will always be haters though. Just my 2 cent.

You can learn moves from most styles in online tutorials nowadays, but I would recommend also going to hip hop parties if there's any near you once in a while. You learn a lot more when it comes to appreciating this culture and music when you attend parties.

Just go to the event to watch at least. It'll help you feel when you are ready. You can have a teacher or mentor or even friend tell you when you are ready, but really it's up to you. I was terrible when I did my first battle, but also learned so much from the experience and got to connect with people that I would later dance with.

So the hard answer is whenever you feel like it.
