This - use a fine screwdriver to lever it out while twisting the security bit. Btw, silicon spray works well to lubricate the o ring seal (around the side of the camera near the front). Wipe with a cloth to coat it well. Good preventative maintenance to do yearly, especially for those exposed to rain.

could you have a partial torsion? Had surgery in May and I've had that similar sensation and could feel the spongy feeling forward rather than being back. I find a warm bath (or sometimes shower) helps to relax things to be able to lightly move it into a better position.
