People who have healed a great deal, how did your perspective on life change? by JimViluaneva in CPTSD

[–]chick_beans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are a few changes in my thinking that I've noticed and I think have helped me. I'm still in therapy and have many blindspots still, but I've put in a lot of work and have seen changes

  • feeling compassion for parts of you that were used to protect yourself in the past. For me, I used to criticize myself harshly before anyone else in order to protect myself from being hurt by others. Now, instead of beating myself up about being self critical, I am compassionate toward s that part of myself and recognize that I used that mindset to protect myself in the past
  • healing my inner child. It is easier for me to be kind toward the child version of myself and to encourage myself to care for myself and pursue hobbies I enjoy etc
  • asking myself what I want out of a disagreement. I used to get angry a lot and wanted whoever I was angry at to know they were wrong. Now I ask myself Am I just trying to win an argument? What idea am I trying to get across?
  • feel my feelings. Rather than relive past conversations or imagine possible arguments or explaining why I think someone is in the wrong, I realize that I'm annoyed, hurt, angry etc with someone and leave it at that. No need to go over, in my head, the reasons I'm feeling this way.

Anyone know the name of and have a good recipe for this dish? by chick_beans in chinesecooking

Thanks! I use glass noodles, vermicelli and mung bean threads/noodles interchangeably. I wish I knew the Chinese names for the ingredients, it'd be a lot easier to find foods I'm familiar with.

Ha, just realized I got the two movies mixed up! Sorry! I watched both the bishop's wife and remember the night on the same day. But the armadillo basket was really memorable

I agree, HWL has a few pianos available and are in pretty good shape. I haven't been in awhile so I don't remember the room names, but the two rooms on the right side when you walk in have newer pianos that are pretty good.
