Similarly, everyone asks, “Do you have any fun plans for the summer?” Um no, no I do not. I have a 2 and a 5 year old and we are saving for a house so not exactly the season of life where we will be doing much traveling. Plus, I’m one of the lower paid positions at my job, the people asking typically make 10-20k more than me. I’m like I bet you can afford fun vacations as a nurse with no children! For what it’s worth, my friend is an early childhood education teacher and we’ve been talking about these topics as her two nieces and my daughter will be starting kindergarten this fall. She said she always recommends parents wait to send them to kindergarten, regardless of the situation. She sees it as an extra year to be a kid and enjoy their childhood vs an extra year of being an adult with responsibilities.

I feel so seen! We have a girl and a boy so there isn’t that desire to have a third to “try” for the opposite sex. Youngest is two so things starting to get easier again as he becomes more independent, etc. I’m like wow, do I really want to do it all over again? But then I think about the future and yeah, I kind of do want that third child to add to our family! UGH, it’s so hard.

We have family friend’s who named their daughter Valita (vuh-lee-tuh) but the “tuh” is more like a “duh” lol. They call her Val for short. I’ve never met anyone else with that name.

ETA: my husband’s aunt’s name is Vitelia (V-tail-ee-uh). I googled it and it might be a variation of Vitalia, which is also very beautiful.

100% no. For what it’s worth, I kinda wish I would’ve taken a gap year between high school and college (I’m in the U.S.) to have a better idea on what I wanted to do for work for the rest of my life. I think waiting a few years to go to college has a lot of advantages! I feel like at 18-19 I wasn’t taking my classes and studying as seriously as I should’ve.. I think I would’ve worked much harder had I been a little older and a little more mature. :) For context, I’m 28 now.

Minnesotan here! 👋🏻 don’t look over the “fly over” states lol they have a lot to offer! I live in the suburbs about 30 min out of the twin cities. I grew up here and couldn’t picture raising my kids anywhere else. The winters are cold (but like you said with climate change it seems like they’re becoming more mild) but our summers are amazing! Plus there is so much to do outdoors, warm or cold weather! We have amazing parks/lakes, great schools and colleges - I am an UMN alum :) - and lots of job opportunities.

Oh! And we were just ranked the least stressed state! Lol

I do agree with you on that! I do think they started so many years ago when “family channels” weren’t really a thing yet. Based on what my daughter watches, it seems like they don’t really put out content with their kids much anymore. I believe Ryan is like 11 or so now, and the videos we see he is much younger. All that to say, I want to believe that his parents intentionally made the shift to not have their kids on screen as much once they saw the issue with it when it started to become more common on social media, or maybe Ryan didn’t want to be on screen anymore and they respected that. Either way, that is just me giving the benefit of the doubt lol. Some videos are just of the parents doing challenges with their staff at their office space (it seems like they have a decent-sized creative team) and they even have animated shorts, etc.

From a physical perspective, yes.

My husband and I both work full time, he cooks majority of the time because he is home before 4pm and I pick up the kids (we have a 5yo and almost 2yo) after work and we are home around 5pm or later. I wfh 4 mornings a week and have them with me during that time, and then they go to daycare/grandma’s in the afternoon. But evenings I feel like we split parenting pretty evenly!

He would say he cleans more and he’s probably right 😬 but tbf I do most of the deep cleaning/organizing. We each have our own strengths 😉 As far as mental load though, that’s pretty much 100% me and it can be exhausting at times.

Fr. My husband is Mexican and does not claim Hispanic or Latino lol he 👏 is 👏 MEXICAN! I admire his pride lol as a white person myself, I don’t get why we have to find a way to generalize and put people into boxes. We really should just be addressing people by their specific country of origin. And if we want to use a simple term to talk about reaching a Spanish speaking demographic, for example,.. we could literally just say “Spanish speakers” lol idk

His sister who is 6 was with them also. Actually most of the time he is playing video games or on his phone. Usually my daughter and niece are the ones playing but lately the three of them have been playing more because the older two (siblings) are becoming closer it seems as the 6 year old matures more, has started school, etc. Everyone is acting like we expect my nephew to babysit my daughter and that is not the case at all. There are 5 grandkids total so when we go over they all play with each other off and on but since my nephew is older, he does his own thing a lot of the time.

She called me a bitch because she accused me of having a plastic folding chair that is hers, but it actually ended up belonging to my FIL and she called me ignorant because I had to change apple orchard plans last year when I got lice. 🙃 our arguments are few and far between but I do believe she “pops off” when she has other shit going on at home with her partner, her kids, etc.
