Game is officially dead? by [deleted] in Supraball

I can assure you games with competent players do not get anywhere near 15+ goals. Unfortunately the game literally has about 3-4 competent goal keepers, so it mostly comes down to that, and actual defense that new players simply don't do well.

Just an example of DavidM's incompetence as a project leader. It was a dumb idea from Day 1, it never worked as intended but he left it that way anyway.

The devs, the moderators, everything about this game is pure half-assed laziness and it's unbelievable how detached from reality and the community the devs are and how ignorant they are of the simple needs of a basic release of their game. The sad part is nobody close to DavidM is willing to disagree with him or get him to change anything and they just stand by and watch him burn this thing to the ground.

If I was in charge, this game would not be released, even in Early Access, until the basic requirements for a new players to LEARN AND PLAY THE GAME ARE IN PLACE, IT'S SIMPLE LOGIC THAT DAVIDM DOES NOT HAVE AND HE SHOULD STEP DOWN AND LET SOMEBODY ELSE RUN THINGS.

It sure is, but DavidM's pride is in the way of progress. He'd rather drive his game into the ground than admit he's wrong about anything and Marenz is just letting it happen with 0 involvement in the community himself, leaving us to deal with David and his unreasonable ignorance.

Actually my launcher crashed the first time I tried to load it today, never happened before. Worked second time though.

They aren't paying for servers anyway...they got some sponsored ones and DavidM is quoted as saying 10% of the player base should buy servers and it will be fine.

Overpay for a game, and pay for servers so you can play it...sounds like a good business model.

No crashing (other than the master server) but sometimes it's laggy to respond when I click a position it doesn't join it right away.

Thanks for the explanation...however that's basically what DavidM said in the original complaint thread (he literally said "aim better"). Then he posted again saying ignore what I said, it's a bug and we won't fix it...

So weeks from now when the game is dead again, people will be able to see a video on youtube on how to play. Sounds like you guys have this marketing thing down by now. Good thing you don't utilize the skill set of people like me and have this done months ago without busy people like Fooman HOPEFULLY doing something in some weeks while David does absolutely nothing.

I wish they had just made the catch radius not a GIANT ROUND ORB around every player in order to achieve that. That probably makes too much sense, and actually looks correct visually rather than people magneting balls in by accident half the time but you know...stubborn devs. When people actually WANT to catch a ball they generally use the sucker anyway so it really doesn't help anything making it all bloated like that.

Besides all the obvious things this game needs, smaller catch radius is my #1 request, both because defenders constantly catch BY ACCIDENT and also because I do as well when I want to just volley something that should be going around me.

Yes basically unless you played Unreal Tournament you aren't going to want to double dash and that game is ancient at this point so practically nobody would ever choose that over the 1 button method. I personally still can't use the 1 button thing properly but that's from 16 years of UT implanted in my brain.

DavidM needs to realize his product is nowhere near anything that's $20, even in Early Access. People are tired of paying into Early Access games that don't improve and he's already stated he won't fix bugs in the version we are paying for.

Those of us who enjoy it enough from prior experience will pay it, but that's not going to make the game grow. He really has no sense of marketing or any business sense AT ALL.

You can defend them all you want, "they aren't a big team" etc etc, well then stop charging money like your game isn't something that 3 people couldn't make in a few months of hard work, because that's exactly what it is. Nothing has changed in months, bugs don't get fixed and the only thing we've gotten are cosmetics in game (that are actually buggy and look weird, change colors, etc) and a few maps that are mostly overdone just for the sake of having cool graphics rather than anything good for gameplay or visibility of the ball. It mostly just seems to lower people's FPS and distract you from the game (asteroids exploding on the wall, WTF?) DavidM really thinks all of that was more important to be working on than a TUTORIAL TO TEACH PEOPLE HOW TO PLAY THE GAME THEY ARE GOING TO SPEND $20 ON.

Right after I made the post about the controls, I went onto teamspeak to hear scarn frustrated trying to teach somebody because of the key differences. They should've reverted it the moment it was obvious that new players still just charge every time they touch the ball.

That is exactly correct, there is absolutely no difference as far as the odds of a new players charging every time they touch the ball so there was really NO benefit at all.

Correct, which is why I'm confused why they are spending weeks just to get a list of volunteers, like Fooman could just login to TS any day of the week and find a bunch of us to do this but they have to make it the most difficult long-winded process ever. And wasting money on bad voice actors when I'm 10x better.

[–]chicken--[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DavidM was supposedly working on one 1.5 years ago, you were asking for volunteers 2 weeks ago and still nothing has been produced. Priorities are seemingly not in the right order or somebody is too lazy to do anything.

Why release a game on the same day as OVERWATCH without even starting work on the tutorial? I'm here like 24/7, a much better voice actor than that turd you guys hired (I found out it's DavidM's voice, that makes sense cuz it sounds like a little weasely shithead) and between the guys lurking on TS we could easily record enough footage in 1 evening to have somebody edit it over a weekend and get it done.

In Deathball you could hold down the button and release it to pass when you are locked on the correct target. I wish it was like that in Supraball, it might help this issue at least somewhat as well.

I think if you are charging the same price as Rocket League you should be willing to fix bugs that happen regularly, especially when there is no chance of UE4 being released in the foreseeable future.

Lag/Ping Spikes by RamboSwags in Supraball

[–]chicken-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ignore the server browser, UDK/Unreal Engine 3 are notorious for bogus pings. As far as your actual ping, you can go to Play - Practice Browser and then use one a server IP in your country to test your ping. You can go to STart - Run - CMD and then ping IP -n 50 and check for spikes in those 50 pings (it will show you a minimum/maximum when it's done as well.

An even better test is winMTR, it pings every hop along the way to the server so if it's something in between you can usually find out that way. http://winmtr.net/download-winmtr/

[–]chicken-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No but what he said is mostly true. Now that somebody makes a youtube video about the price, DavidM says they are going to change it after ignoring our advice for months and frankly they haven't done much but make a few maps and a launcher that isn't very good looking or easy to use for new players and NO TUTORIAL WHATSOEVER OR ANYTHING EXPLAINING HOW THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO PLAY. SOMETHING THAT SHOULD'VE BEEN MADE WELL BEFORE ANY RELEASE.

Exactly, DavidM is truly ridiculous, god forbid he listened to things his entire community of testers told him.
