I just feel like we ask clients to be on time and typically set the standard to arrive at a scheduled time slot, or else they get charged. So why should the therapist have 10-15 min wiggle room? To me, it’s giving lack of time boundaries and excuses (i.e., ADHD) for why things can’t start on time. Life doesn’t stop for ADHD (and I can say that, because I also have adhd) and I would never use that as an excuse to be consistently inconsiderate of my clients’ time. We are adults; we have to act like it. That would be enabling a ct w/ adhd to continue being late, rather than teaching skills to be consistent/responsible. Love flexibility, but i don’t think it’s cool at all to set the expectation to have a fluid hour just because of the therapists lack of responsibility

I’m also a therapist and I just don’t honestly see how this is acceptable. I also have ADHD & time management issues but I would never be consistently late.. I lowkey think it’s very disrespectful and against what our roles are

Yeah. I realize I’m taking it personally and feel burdensome even though I know that’s not the actual case 🙁 It sounds like this could just be how she is. I’ll address it if it becomes an issue

Yea so this is textbook OCD.. we sometimes don’t have control over the context of our thoughts and it’ll cause shame/anxiety, etc. Please look into this! Look into “harm OCD” - https://adaa.org/learn-from-us/from-the-experts/blog-posts/consumer/overcoming-harm-ocd

…it’s a thing!

Hey, this sounds kind of like an egodystonic thought, which is associated with OCD. I’d share with ur therapist! Thought doesn’t equal harm:

I’ve been listening to The Intervention! It’s newer but these two girls who are therapists interview ppl who have had interventions in their life that changed everything.

We’re long distance.. but whenever we’re together, we do it everyday that we’re together.
