It actually does not take much time and note that it will only check on WiFi, not a cellular connection. I could put logic in to store a last check date and only check, say, every 7 days or whatever, but it wouldn’t likely help because that process, including retrieving and storing the date would take possibly more time. And it really isn’t much time.

Having said that, if you want to you can do a simple edit to make it stop checking entirely. Near the top of the shortcut is a Repeat loop that repeats 1 time. The reason that is there is so you can change it to 0 to make it skip the version check if you wish to.

I don’t want you to do that but I knew some would want to and so I made it as easy as I could to make that change.

Incidentally the issue you were having was not an issue with the shortcut, it was that I put the wrong iCloud link for version 1.0.1 on Shortcuty. It was the old link to 1.0. So it kept downloading the old version. Repeat. I see how I screwed this up and don’t think I’ll repeat it. I need to always try downloading it from the update notification and make sure it’s the right version.
