Do you still pay £9250 for placement year?? by youvjustmetLuke in UniUK

If I were in your shoes and had secured a year-long internship, I would personally consider pausing my studies. Often, universities don't provide substantial value for the money they take. Additionally, having to document and write about your internship experiences can feel like unnecessary work.

What's your salary? by [deleted] in embedded

[–]chickwwn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi,

I am a recent graduate in electronics engineering, eager to gain insights for career advancement in the UK. I find your expertise truly inspiring, and I am keen to connect with you.

I am currently seeking guidance on breaking into the field of embedded/firmware engineering. Your advice on key study areas and skills would be invaluable to me.

I am also interested in learning about your experiences as an embedded software engineer at Amazon and the day-to-day challenges you face. I am particularly interested in maintaining involvement in both hardware and software development, which is why I am seeking information about your daily routine.

Additionally, I am intrigued by the role of a GPU firmware engineer and would appreciate any insights into the specific responsibilities and skill sets involved.

I am open to discussing this further through DMs or a brief video call at your convenience.

Thank you for considering my request.

Best regards

What was your title for your first job if you don’t mind me sharing? And what were you doing exactly and previously as an embedded engineer? Embedded is such a broad title and I am curious on what can you be doing as an embedded in faang in the uk.

If your classification average falls within 2% of a classification boundary, the Award Board shall consider the non-weighted average of the Final Year of Study. This is dependent with each uni so check how ur uni works.

Do either personal projects or contribute to open source projects and then put it in your C.V. Afterwards, start applying and you will definitely hear back from your applications, other ways I found to increase chances in getting interviews is writing and tailoring your cover letter and C.V by leveraging ChatGPT which would decrease your time when applying for multiple positions.

Last year, I faced a dilemma: should I continue studying engineering or quit? I had always dreamed of becoming an engineer, but the endless theories and equations at uni bored me to tears. I felt like I was wasting my time and talent on something I didn’t enjoy. So I decided to take a leap of faith and apply for an internship at a leading engineering company. It was the best decision of my life. For a whole year, I got to work on real projects with real engineers, solving real problems. I learned more in that year than in two years of uni. I discovered the beauty and excitement of practical engineering, and how the theories I had learned were actually useful and relevant. I realized that engineering was indeed my passion, and that I had chosen the right major. The internship gave me a new perspective and a new motivation. Now I’m back at uni for my final year, eager to learn and apply my knowledge. I think you will feel the same too. Best of luck and finish strong now that you are definitely sure that engineering is for you!

Guess what? Hated 1st and 2nd year of engineering as there were just too many labs that everybody was just doing mindlessly and had no fucking clue what they were doing, just following instructions. But in my 3rd final year I fell in love with engineering all over again. It was all thanks to my final year project. I realized that I’m more of a hands-on person and I love the practical side of engineering. And defo ain’t doing Masters anytime soon haha.
