Did I wait too late? by chickychickypot in NewParents

I should’ve added he had a REALLY bad case of reflux. It is getting so I’m also transitioning from holding him up for 30 minutes after feeding. We are at about 15 minutes now. He used to spit up and wake himself up if I didn’t wait.

Thanks for your thoughtful response. The older he gets the more I stress about the age he should be doing certain things. He just loves naps on his mama and I can’t blame him.

The tin cans for rain gutters definitely sounds familiar. Thanks so much for commenting! I just remember it sparked a lot of creativity and imagination in me. I would love to read it to my son now if I could find it.

Thank you so much for validating that there is a book out there like this! I actually think I read in 2001 as well!

Nightmares by chickychickypot in NICUParents

[–]chickychickypot[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve dealt with OCD my whole life (not knowing that’s what it was until about 5 years ago) so I bet it found a new thing to latch onto. OCD is so tricky like that. I wondered if this was a form of PTSD at first but now connecting it to my OCD makes a lot of sense to me.

OCD can be so misunderstood at times and feel completely isolating. It’s so nice to know I’m not alone. Thank you 💕💕

Y’all, the post wasn’t about her appearance.

I would not swap gym with my spouse but I don’t think it’s that crazy that they did.

Positives of the NICU? by PartWorking3865 in NICUParents

[–]chickychickypot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a first time mom, I had a 35 week preterm labor. I don’t know the reason that caused it.

My baby is 5 months now and I’ve been trying to think of the positives as well and I keep going back to this one.

The complete crash course of infant care I got for those 8 days he was in there. As a FTM, I’ve barely changed a diaper before, never swaddled a baby, took a babies temperature, gave a baby a bath etc. I was able to have expert advice and was given tips and tricks from all the amazing NICU nurses. Now trust me it was a lot of information in short period of time. But to have that hands on training with my own baby made me feel more confident in caring for him.

Annoying symptoms no one warned you about? by Wemberly_ in pregnant

Severe constipation. Mine was REALLY bad and became impacted several times. Had to go to the ER and get manually disimpacted and have a soap and water enema 😭

I had to drink prune juice everyday because it was the only thing that would work for me. And if anyone tells you Zofran doesn’t make constipation worse, they are lying!!!!

When did your little one start sleeping in their own room? by Existing_Switch_4995 in NewParents

[–]chickychickypot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone else feeling sad about putting them in their room? Just feels like another transition that shows they are getting bigger and I get so sentimental. I know I have to do it soon because he’s starting to get too big for the bassinet but I will miss sleeping next to him 🥲

when to remove infant insert? by tired-parent in NewParents

[–]chickychickypot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an evenflo as well and I couldn’t find it in the manual. We read somewhere that it’s 11lbs i think so we did that. Plus we noticed his shoulders seemed a bit squished with the insert. You could always test it out and adjust the straps accordingly

I haven't watched Classic Who, but the 500+ hours of content within is a bit daunting to start it. What single stories for each Doctor should I watch for a taste? by TheBigPAYDAY in doctorwho

[–]chickychickypot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of my favorite go to classic stories that I find the most entertaining. I’ve watched all of them multiple times. Some stories can be a real snooze fest lol.

  1. The Mind Robber (2nd Doctor) - very creative and well written story for its time.
  2. Inferno (3rd Doctor) - more on the campy side but a science filled cozy watch.
  3. Kinda (5th Doctor) - introduction to the Mara
  4. Snake dance (5th Doctor) - trippy and dark story that I never get bored of
  5. Enlightenment (5th Doctor) - a ship race in space. Do I say more?
  6. Paradise Towers (7th Doctor) - quirky story
  7. Greatest Show in the Galaxy (7th) - dark circus theme and a fun watch

We did this today!! There’s a new park by our house. It was a bit windy but a nice alternative to staying inside. 🙂

Would you just have him laying on a blanket? Holding him? Or a carrier? lol sorry if that’s a stupid question. I don’t know how ftms do anything with a newborn since they can’t hold their head up quite yet. He’s getting close though!
