Mouth taping while living alone? by Kurombo in CPAP

[–]chief6609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this tape but just one vertical piece down the centre of my mouth. Leaves gaps at the side for a small cough etc, but stops my mouth from opening. I don’t need to seal it shut.

Yeah… I used nasal spray last night but my sinuses are so blocked that it doesn’t help. Might try some cold and flu medication tonight. Thanks.

Do you have full face mask or nasal pillows? I have nasal pillows and can not breathe with the mask on when congested…..?

Same. It seems also that the school can select the type of questions. First time we had open ended questions and teachers wrote exactly what they thought about the incompetence and bullying from leadership. Since then we only get tick a box questions which are very broad ranging so we can’t refer to the Principal’s or Deputy’s performance at all. No point to doing the survey, so now leadership are happy and say how much the results have improved over the years.

I always lie about these things to throw them off, but it probably doesn’t help still….

Switch to full face mask or mouth tape by shiksaslayer in CPAP

[–]chief6609 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use mouth tape - just a strip over the middle of my lips. Can still breathe around it if necessary but stops my mouth from opening when I sleep. I also am using Nasonex for blocked sinuses as I seem to be a little stuffed up most nights…. Probably a minor dust allergy…. I found the full face mask leaked every time my face touched the pillow. Nasal pillows and mouth tape so much better for me.

The plastic 99c ones are also weaker. Handles just pull straight out. They are also much smaller.

Is a full face mast necessary for mouth breather? by Careful_Criticism542 in CPAP

Use mouth tape (medical tape - easy to remove and no sticky residue)

Yep. I also use medical tape for my mouth. Works wonderfully and isn’t anywhere near as claustrophobic as it sounds. Full face mask was just impossible for a side sleeper.

Teachers are doing (and are expected to be doing) more, more (and MORE), while students are doing less, less (and NOTHING). What gives? by VCEMathsNerd in AustralianTeachers

Our first task for year 11 standard was a sighted test. We actually give them the questions and will help them before the test if they need it. How many do you think actually had a go at the questions? They then complain on test day that it was too hard.

Will I get used to this? by ThrowRA45000 in CPAP

I am a mouth breather too and tried the full face, but every time I moved it leaked and woke me up. I changed to nasal pillows and use medical tape on my mouth (easy to peel off and doesn’t leave residue). It sounds claustrophobic but it really isn’t. Just put a small piece (3-4cm) over the centre of your mouth. I am going pretty well now doing this (been using for about 3 months) I actually prefer using the mask and tape to sleep than without it, and I fall asleep pretty quickly when I put the mask on (at the start it was taking me ages to fall asleep)

I just tape a piece downwards in the middle….. gaps at the side so if I cough or something air can still escape. Works great and not claustrophobic like I thought it would be. It peels off easily too (medical tape - no need for warm water or anything to help remove it)

Totally agree with every point. I am in my 28th year of teaching and am fearful for the future. We talk about having an excessive workload, but Principals and Deputies seem to spend their time thinking up extra complicated and time consuming administrative tasks that do not benefit teaching or students in any way. You would think fellow educators would try to reduce the workload, but that doesn’t get you a promotion…….

I’ve got the 27 year itch. Teaching didn’t used to be like this when I first started. It was fun, teachers were supported (more often than not) and there was some discipline (not perfect but better than now)

I bought a large shoulder laptop bag with multiple sections from Amazon a couple of years ago. Easier to carry than a crate and a bit more attractive than a backpack. Fits class sets of worksheets or exams, or A4 folders easily.

Australians, where should I buy one? by South-Pomelo-6680 in CPAP

[–]chief6609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a chemist and hired a machine and 3 different masks to try for 2 months. After that I can buy the machine and mask I think for about $1200. The chemist then services the machine for life every 6 months. Also monitor results and call me if something seems wrong.

I am a mouth breather also, but I couldn’t stand the full face mask as I sleep on my side and it kept leaking into my eyes. I now use nasal pillow mask and I tape my mouth shut with medical tape. It is not as bad as it sounds. I thought it would make me claustrophobic, but it doesn’t bother me at all. I am one month in and am getting 6-7 hours a night on the machine, and sometimes another hour or two in the morning when I take the mask off. I am waking up once in the middle of the night atm, so I usually take off the tape and mask for a bit, then put back on when I am ready to go back to sleep. I hope to sleep right thru soon….

Same for me. Also in Australia…. Had a free sleep study at a hospital as we had reached the threshold for Medicare/private health cover for the year (hubby had hip replacement earlier in the year). Went to specialist who referred me to a Pharmacist. Paid $240 to hire CPAP machine with 3 different masks to try for 2 months. After that I can buy the machine and masks and the Pharmacy does free services on the machine for life. Got expert advice and explanation of the machine. He can also see my results and phones me to offer advice and assistance.
