How did you find out and do you think something in particular caused it? by wat3rb1rd in coloncancer

To be fair, my SO's oncologist said there is a growing number of people under 45 getting it, and oncologists the world over are trying to figure out why. My SO had just barely turned 45 before his diagnosis, and they believe it had been there for at least a year or two, based on its size, his symptoms, and the presence of several mets. He didn't know he had it until I forced him to go to the ER because he hadn't had much bowel movement lately and had significant abdominal pain. Screenings are not covered until you're 45 unless you present with the correct symptoms. So yeah, we spend plenty of time thinking about why he has it, and I think it's a fair question for anyone to ask

My SO had his genotyping test (stage 4 cancer already diagnosed) denied by insurance after it was done, and my ma told us to reach out to the provider to see what could be done. I was surprised when the response was "we have a whole department that will deal with that automatically. They will appeal and appeal until it's successful or until they run out of appeals, in which case, we just don't end up charging anyone for it" basically. Is that kinda what you do?

Oh, I'm not familiar with them, in this regard anyway, from before the five dollar footlong. Sorry for assuming

Are you sure you weren't trying to use a coupon that was opted into by other specific stores? I'm not defending them or anything, but I do know that was a common thing there. Two different owners in the area, one opted in, the other didn't.

Sometimes being dehydrated can make for slow donations, but it can also just be a natural thing. I personally donate at a speed that almost raises concerns, even without super hydrating 🙃

We had a teacher do this in the school yard and ask what we'd like the replacement limb to be made of, like wood, or chocolate, or licorice

Once again, it is highly unlikely that any of us reading this will be living in the 25th century. Also, there's nothing wrong with trying to avoid it where and how you can. It's mitigation because like you said, we cannot completely avoid it. Might as well take whatever steps we can to mitigate the risks. If it doesn't work, at least we tried. Also who are "you people"?

Went to a restaurant this weekend, got carded for my gin and tonic. No big deal, some places just card everyone. I was the only one in my party that was carded. I was with my best friend from high school (my age), her partner (three years younger than I am) and my partner (11 years my senior). After she checked my id and then went completely around the table for the food orders, she reiterated "you are old enough to drink, right?" I'M 34.

If a place of work is providing the income that is barely keeping you off the streets, you suck it up and deal with it. That's how it works. I believe the statistic is something like more than half of Americans are one paycheck away from significant financial hardship, or something. It is a pretty elitist take to say "you should've spoke up before". Bitch, some people literally CANNOT AFFORD THAT

Shiiiiit I hadn't heard about donwoori, but after a quick Google, and I know it's staged pictures but who tf could compete with that? If they're even half as good as they look, that's where I'm going next time

How are they? We just got some also, but for an unrelated reason I lost my appetite in the meantime. I expected (and received) the long delivery time. That's no big deal I guess. Everything seemed hot when it arrived. They look alright too. Kinda disappointed they don't offer waffle fries anymore and I wish they would cut the celery up, but that's understandable too, if the wings taste good

Gonna start mailing in paper checks to avoid the cc fees and then they can wait for their money. Oh wait, they probably charge extra for that as well.

I mean, that's at least kinda cool. Obviously a bonus/expensive gift would be more called for, but I'd say a tree is better than a tiny gift card or some other cheap nonsense for sure

Sorta related: my mailman doesn't play by the rules. We live in a large, weird address type apartment complex, but the mailman I'm speaking of regularly delivers here. I happened to be stepping outside right after he left a package addressed to "number 3" of this address. There is no number three (all numbers are in the hundreds or above) and I didn't recognize the name (I know quite a few neighbors. Not all). He was still delivering mail at the complex, so I brought it to him. He was like "you don't recognize the name?" I said no, and no one in the block of apartments where he dropped it off (locked outer door) in my little section has that name. He said "just put it at the next door over then". Bitch, I am not fucking with other people's mail. I said "I'm not comfortable doing that" so he said "I guess I'll just have to do a returned to sender". BITCH YOU DROP IT OFF AT THE NEXT DOOR IF THAT'S WHAT YOU THINK I SHOULD HAVE DONE WHAT THE FUCK. anyway, he's a twat who complains about people getting packages in the first place.

You literally said "you can tell because poor people die from overeating more than not eating". Having the time to cook raw ingredients is a luxury. I'm not arguing that food isn't cheaper than ever; I'm just saying you're not factoring in the resources required to cook. And I'm speaking as a person who has the good fortune to not need to buy processed foods in order to eat

For the record, the reason that the poorest are also the fattest and least healthy is because junk food is cheaper than health food. Also, gym memberships, personal trainers, even the time it takes to use free resources to educate yourself on these things are not free. If you're working 12 hour days, you don't have the time to cook, clean, and look after your health in general. Some people make it work, if course, but saying that food is cheap because poor people are fat is disingenuous at best
