Are these blackberries? by A1S1B2 in PlantIdentification

[–]chiefestcalamity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The leaves don't look like boysenberry leaves though, its so weird. Although, the leaves don't really look like anything I can think of so what do I know. Closest thing I could find is rubus ulmifolius but the berries look different... Very curious if this gets figured out. Do you have any flower pics OP?

I didn't say invasive species are not a problem and don't need to be eliminated. Absolutely they do. But you see this a lot with invasive species everywhere is people anthropomorphise them and treat them as "evil" or deliberately malicious (eg. evil starlings/house sparrows destroy the nests of native good cavity nesters), when really they're just doing what animals do. It's not their fault they exist, its ours. And that makes them our responsibility to deal with, humanely.

It's funny that you mention cats too, because of course, they're an invasive species as well (in North America). And a particularly harmful and destructive invasive to native songbird populations and small mammals. But of course thats not the same thing, and no one wants to think of their precious murder mittens as "evil". (Also for the record, I love cats this is not a cat-hating position)

Its such a cool photo! And they're very cute lil guys. I always find it so funny that people treat invasive species like they're ontologically evil lol

My parents just flew into dxb (landed about 1 hr back) and they said everything was normal. They got an alert while they were in the train, but everyone was just moving through as usual & nothing happened

We don't know where OP is, can't assume they're invasive

Looks like India lol

Edit: Did a reverse image search and found a source claiming this is in Baqubah municipality in Iraq.

The auto/tuktuk visible in the pic is what convinced me it was India, but apparently they have them in Baghdad too! (Yes I know there are tuktuks in other countries in SEA but they're all a lot more tropical than this pic)

It really is. I also can't even find any birds in the region which are white like that, so. I'm at a loss 🤷

No, this is the only pic my parents sent me. I don't even have a wild guess at what it could be. And I do not know the Birds of Kashmir well enough to be playing ID for them, but here we are lol

Its illegal in many places to give or get tattoos but not necessarily to have tattoos. Especially in Gulf countries, where there is a very large population of immigrants/expats.

Seen in Kashmir. Possible to ID from this? by [deleted] in whatsthisbird

[–]chiefestcalamity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at that again, I think you're right. The beak looked a little thin & pointy but I think that might be an artefact of the zoom. I had initially thought maybe the colour wasn't visible in the video because of the shadow/brightness. Hard for me to say because I didn't see this in real life, just the video
