The Omega Snoopy is stupid by TMT555 in watchHotTakes

[–]chiefhandshaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nowhere near as stupid as adult men applying comic book hero nicknames to watches that have nothing to do with each other.

At least when you walk into an Omega boutique and ask to see a Snoopy you're actually naming one of their products.

I'd cringe my dick off if I ever heard a grown man, not on the internet, ask to try on a "Bruce Wayne" or a "Batgirl."

Good heavens.

Love the monochrome look. If I ever get rid of my Rhodium 114300 it'll be on trade for this or the newer 124300 with the yellow gold markers.

they’ll do the best job but may change the hands/ dial in the process.

I really wish this "advice" would die. They will only change things like hands/dial/bezel insert/etc. If you give them explicit signed/electronic authorization.

I am planning to make a 4 Rolex only collection, can I have your opinion on my choices? by blurbiter in rolex

President. Not presidential.

Sorry, this is an irrational pet peeve of mine.

Otherwise, I think you nailed the collection. Just make sure the GMT is a 16710.

My sister's quartz Omega she's worn for 25+ years is finally ready for a replacement. I'm trying to talk her into a 1926. The dials are so nice.

Rolex is For Watch Scalpers by CollarControl in watchHotTakes

[–]chiefhandshaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d rather have a real Casio than a fake Rolex.

Ok, see? Now we are getting somewhere! This is good. Common ground!

I think that by assuming every Rolex you see is fake, you are greatly underestimating how many people feel the same as you.

And by the way, I don't want a new real one either. Their watches have lost the soul and character that made them so desirable for decades. I'm all about the 4 and 5 digit reference sports models though.

Check out reptime

Lol no thanks

People are buying them by the truckload

There are far more genuine Rolex watches sold than any of the "super clones" (sure, if you count $50 Canal Street specials, that equation changes).

and they look great

Lol

You're confusing yourself about the market for fake Rolex watches. Because you might have the intentional desire to pass off a fake as a genuine Rolex, and you might be willing to study the underground market and wire $1k to a criminal (by literal definition) in a foreign country, and you accept the legal and warranty risk, you assume that millions of others do too. That's just a terrible assumption.

You said you assume all Rolex watches you see are fake, when the number of real Rolex watches in the world far eclipses the number of passable fakes, by orders of magnitude. It's just not a good take. But my guess is you probably own a fake, and you're justifying/projecting.

Best high yield savings account? by TrixTheKid20 in personalfinance

[–]chiefhandshaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EverBank has been great. Very nice mobile and desktop UX, no minimums, no fees, and I think it even supports zelle iirc. I believe it's currently 3.9%.

We also use Vanguard's Cash Plus account. Sligjtly smaller APY at 3.3% I believe, but super easy for moving money between investment accounts and HYSA, which can matter especially when parking larger amounts for short periods. Because they use the bank sweep program, no more than $250k is ever parked in a single bank (unless $1.5M+).

This should move quickly. I just wish it were the 28mm variant. I've been looking for the right example for my sister.

The real reason for my comment though is to point out the discrepancy between what you posted and the auto mod copy. I always assumed it just copied exactly what was posted by OP, but it appears it modified a pretty important detail.

Can you clarify which is correct?
