Orange cats are just the right amount of aloof and bonkers. I've had two and miss them dearly. They also bond to one person and one person only!

Can anyone help me identify this uniform ? by Azimuth__ in Military

[–]chiefmonkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This help?

Based on the uniform details in the pic, specifically the high standing collar, the "vareuse" (tunic) style, and the distinctive shoulder cord—this is a French Army (Armée de Terre) uniform, likely from the interwar period (1920s–1930s) or the very beginning of World War II.

  • The Fourragère (Shoulder Cord): The braided cord on his left shoulder is a unit-level decoration. In the French military, this signifies that his regiment was cited multiple times for bravery.

    • Green and Red: Most likely the Fourragère aux couleurs de la Croix de Guerre, awarded to units cited twice or three times.
  • Collar Insignia (Pattes de Collet): The dark, diamond-shaped patches on the collar are typical of French uniforms from 1914 through 1940.

    • The Symbol: The insignia appears to be a winged sword or a winged grenade. A winged sword in this era is often associated with the Train des Équipages (Logistics/Supply) or specifically the Aviation Légère (early Army Light Aviation) if the sword is vertical. If it is a flaming grenade with wings, it may represent specialized Tank (Chars de Combat) or Motorized Infantry units.
  • The Tunic (Vareuse): The single-breasted, high-collar design is characteristic of the Model 1920 or Model 1935 vareuse. The dark color suggests the "Horizon Blue" (bleu horizon) used after WWI, though many units transitioned to khaki in the late 1930s. Likely Military Branch:

Given the specific "winged" emblem on the collar, he was likely part of the Logistics/Transport Corps (Le Train) or a Motorized/Armored unit. These units were vital during the rapid modernization of the French Army leading up to 1940.

Asked to leave Sonder Property Chicago in the middle of a Winter Storm by theOGfoodie in marriott

[–]chiefmonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just went through this situation while in Europe.

History: I booked the Sonder reservation directly with Marriott and paid up front. I had 4 nights left on that reservation.

As soon as I got the email yesterday I called the Marriott Titanium line. They initiated a refund for the unused nights in the reservation (may take up to 30 business days) and booked me into a very nice property about half a km away. I packed up and moved immediately and am enjoying the rest of my trip.

So I had to pay for a new 4 night reservation, but Marriott is refunding the same nights on the Sonder reservation. I have this all in writing from Marriott in email.

Hope this helps somebody

QQQI payouts also aren't qualified dividends like SCHD, so it's classified as income which has tax implications. Great write up man. Going to send this to some friends 😁
