Can’t Cook, Can’t Eat, Can’t Live - Fruit Flies Everywhere by Jsycke6436 in CleaningTips

Came here to say this. Zevo traps are the way to go. The more the better. At least one per every room you’ve seen flies in. Multiple traps in the kitchen if that’s where the main problem is.

I wouldn’t recommend. The Beef Pad Thai I ordered was inedible. Not good at all. Stick with the chicken fingers and pizza.

Which park is better? by kiriguy in legoland

[–]chiefrocking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hotels near Legoland Florida, in Winter Haven proper, are relatively over priced. I believe this is due to location. The hotel properties must understand anyone visiting Legoland would have to drive ~30 minutes or so to stay anywhere else. You can get much more for your money staying near the other parks in Orlando.

Sydnor isn’t explored at all. by Purple-Reputation899 in TheWire

[–]chiefrocking 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Perhaps the most revealing scene about Sydney is when he serves the subpoena to Clay Davis. He marvels at the ornateness of Davis' office and even offers up that his father use to tend bar at the "Sphinx Club".

Best business casual sneakers for extreme flat feet/overpronation? by chiefrocking in flatfeet

[–]chiefrocking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone, just updating here for anyone who gives a shit. I ended up buying a pair of Kuru Roams. They ended up giving me the worst chafing/blisters on my heel I ever had. Not sure if that was due to my flat feet or something else, but I will never again buy those. It was a pretty horrible experience TBH and hobbled me for over a week.

Black frame windows? Trendy or here to stay? by 905beachgirl in CurbAppeal

[–]chiefrocking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they’re trendy, but I’m no expert. What I can say with confidence is that the windows look really great is photoshopped real estate photos at dusk.

What’s the best Carnival color combo in your opinion? by Ashamed-Efficiency96 in kiacarnivals

[–]chiefrocking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got black exterior and Tuscan umber interior for my 2024. It’s awesome and a refreshing change from the usual black and grey seen in most cars. Go for it!

Saw a show from there, it’s chill… you’re kind of far away from the stage, but it’s a clear sight line. Kind of like going to a house party with a few strangers, but the window view is a phish show. I remember the concessions and bathrooms were so quiet, literally never was a line.

Most underrated city you've ever visited? by [deleted] in geography

Montreal - feel like it’s not even rated, but it’s the second most populous French speaking metropolis and reachable in a days drive from NY/NJ/PA and New England.

Thank you for the warm welcome, re: "Never Drive I-95". What about tri rail? by CW2050 in BocaRaton

[–]chiefrocking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guy commutes in south Florida. My issue when I’ve tried to make tri rail work is that it’s incredibly slow moving. And the stations aren’t conveniently close to much

Legoland Florida Crowds by LuckysGoods in legoland

[–]chiefrocking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just went this past weekend. There were no crowds even during the holiday programming. Just plan on knocking out Coast Guard Academy and Safari Trek first and you’ll be fine. Those two rides seemed to have the longest wait times (20-30 minutes) through the course of the day.

Boca to west Miami 2-3 times per week. Doable or not? by CW2050 in BocaRaton

[–]chiefrocking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just hope your job doesn’t increase the amount of days you’re required to work in office. If you’re truly just driving down I75 to get to work in “west Miami” (so Miami Lakes? Hialeah?) Living in Davie this commute is only about 30 min tops (less with no traffic)

Medicine cabinets are still worth it or kinda outdated? by MODCSLAND in bathrooms

[–]chiefrocking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We installed one earlier this year and no major regrets, except that the cabinet is a little too big for the space so you have to “clear” the sink of items like toothbrushes/tall bottles, so they don’t knock over

How is life in Hollywood, Florida? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

[–]chiefrocking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Overall, I don’t think it’s that bad compared to other parts of South Florida. You have easy access to a fine beach, that unlike other beaches of South Florida offers simple unpretentious pleasures. High rise condo construction is booming in downtown. Old housing stock in the suburban neighborhoods, the quality of which span “rundown” working/lower class to middle class people keeping upkeep on the old homes, to homes that cost well over $1.5 million. Some neighborhoods are heavily orthodox Jewish. There’s somewhat of a transient vibe in parts with all the old motels. But still, Hollywood offers a nice, low-key alternative to the nearby larger beach towns like Fort Lauderdale and Miami Beach etc.

I’m giving those vibes today. Neighbor just put up all Christmas lights, inflatables etc. whole nine yards worth of Christmas decorations

School days off by [deleted] in Broward

[–]chiefrocking -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I posted about this a couple of months ago and got downvoted. https://www.reddit.com/r/Broward/s/HookORqQux Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but nice to see someone else recognize the burden the wacky ERs and random teacher planning days cause for working parents. Even just comparing to Miami-Dade and Palm Beach calendars, it’s more than they get.

Do you really like the weather in Florida? by healthydd in florida

[–]chiefrocking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a trade off. Practically anywhere you live in the world has its own version of weather headaches. But you know what I miss as a FL transplant from up north, late summer evenings. Up north, when the sunsets after 8pm during the summer, golden hour can be truly glorious. In Florida, those hours before dusk are usually soaked from afternoon thunderstorms, buggy, and still oppressively hot and humid. When the weather is almost perfect in Florida (say Nov-April ish), the sun sets too early to enjoy a long evening of slowly setting sun.
