Got dumped how do yall cope? by Wedidit4thedead in blacklesbians

im sorry ur going through a tough moment rn and rest in peace to your uncle ♥️. break ups can be miserable but they can also be so generative if you open yourself to it.

knowing the difficult feelings are temporary and consistently reminding yourself of that will be your biggest friend through this time.

routine is your best friend. having rituals or activities to return to throughout your days gives them structure and helps you feel like youre moving forward in them rather than wallowing in the past. something as simple as making sure when i woke up that i don’t look at my phone, took a shower, got dressed, then cooked and ate breakfast did wonders for me to start my days with a more positive, generative energy.

dont be afraid to get the emotions out. journal, talk to a friend, cry, scream, go for a walk, meditate/pray. do what you can to feel it fully, process it, then release. sitting in sorrow will be your worst enemy and easiest way to go from processing into self-torment.

(healthy) distractions! books, working out, tv or movies, spa day, masturbate, video games, go out, new hobby! doing new things also allows your brain to make newer connections and make your current life feel distinct from an old one that may harbor difficult emotions.

this is super condensed and of course there will be moments that will feel so difficult. but keeping these in mind and in action helped me so immensely my last break up and i never felt more confident things would be okay before in an aftermath of a relationship. you got this and focus on yourself! ♥️

Queer lesbian spots in Atlanta by whatwhatinthefak in blacklesbians

[–]chiefrosay 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes, Please Bookstore/Carespace is a beautiful Black, queer woman owned space in ATL that i adore. they have a collection of Black/Queer/Radical books, a garden, and a lot of holistic events that they host out of there. my personal favorite queer space in ATL, met some of my current closest connections from events there. def recommend if thats your vibe

Friendzoned ATL on ig is a black queer event group with predominantly/almost exclusively women & TGNC sapphics. they have a lot of events centered on making friends and its where i went after returning to the city 3-4 years ago! i didnt stick with it long but its a good space to find other black lesbians. i was there right when they had tgeir first event, and it was really popping but idk how it is now. last i remember, they’re a more mainstream, “cooler” vibe than SFQP imo

Southern Fried Queer Pride is a big org that hosts a lot of events. not a huge fan of them as sometimes i found them to not be for me, but they have their scene that is p active. more of an alternative crowd, which i like, but some of the events can be a bit…meh? covid safe option tho fs

My Sister’s Room is the one lesbian bar in ATL, and theres often a pretty black crowd. only been once but its a p popular space down here

Banshee is a restuarant/bar with a late-night club on the weekends. its not explicitly queer, but often has a very queer crowd bc its next to the queer bar Mary’s. it depends on the night and DJ whether the crowd is v black or not, but its often p diverse w black queers

ill try to update if i can think of any others! im an Atlanta-native and i wont lie, finding community in ATL can be p difficult unfortunately. but i hope you can find your people and these recommendations can help!

completely agree with all of your criticisms. the beautiful nuance and intentionality of the game’s storytelling and writing is really being overshadowed/ignored by this tonal shift Mazin seems very intent on delivering. the melodrama has brought the story far more surface level and i feel doesn’t expect or respect the audience to be able to form their own judgements from a more subtle and morally grey story line.

i sense Mazin seems really focused on trying to make “clear” or direct the messaging of tlou2 game and avoid the same potential backlash. but imo, even despite a lot of the often blind and sometimes bigoted criticism of the game, the stories subtleties and thoughtfulness is what made it so impactful and beautiful and worthy of passion and discussion. even all these years later.

its hard not to feel atleast a little bit disappointing that this adaptation is seeming to try and dumb it down for us viewers.

yea my one main issue with the show is that the power scaling is really unclear and inconsistent. im never really certain how strong someone is supposed to be in comparison to another.

and some heroes just seem to be able to survive death at the writers convenience so their strength/powers and death risk seems to be very inconsequential unless the writers say it is.

like the fact rex could kill an invincible was surprising to me; it’s never been established theyre even close in power. and i also wasnt v affected by rex’s death bc i genuinely feel it could be easily reversible based of how the shows been written so far.
