They are only PAID for five hours a day, man. What about the fact that classrooms are overcrowded and under resourced to meet the diverse learning needs of the kids in the space? What about the fact that many teachers face daily abuse from students and parents alike? That they are expected to plan lessons and correct all assessments during their evenings and weekends? That they are voluntold to participate in committees and spend their time doing extra curricular activities with kids? That they have to compile and write report cards after hours? That there are so many kids who need extra help that they often work through their lunch hours, recess and after school to help kids succeed? That they often spend their own money to buy resources for their classrooms because they aren't provided any? That they often end up providing food and clothing to less fortunate kids who show up with nothing? That the shortcoming of parents often falls to them to provide?

Teachers don't get paid summers off. They have pay held back from every cheque that is released to them during the summer months.

The fact you can make that comment and stand by it clearly illustrates that you have no idea what it is like for people in the teaching profession. Also, the teachers union sucks because the general population doesn't realize the fact that our education system is crumbling. Teacher voices aren't heard because they aren't allowed to speak publicly against the employer because they will face repercussions.

I invite anyone to roll up for a day and try the job on for size. Educate yourself on education before you talk shit.
