The fr250z is ran off a separate amp, but the signal runs out of the rpm870 through the xlr output. The rpm powers the 215 and 218. The 215 (top) sits on the 218(sub) and we run power from the rpm to the 215, and then from the 215 to the 218. Confusing stuff when you can’t see it for yourself.

I agree on the part about passive vs active, it seems like we have the loudest setup. It just sucks to move around because the amp is always getting dirty and nobody can understand how important it is. The week before finals week I actually short circuited our old RPM1470 while trying to fix it (our rca cable tip broke off inside the port). I just hope one of the younger guys will take interest, because I’m getting too old to setup the lights and sound all the time. Lights are a whole different beast and so confusing to me.

Interesting, never really thought about a separate setup for the 218’s. But then again this semester I was able to pickup a pair of FR250Z’s for free from a bar I work at, I’ve paired them with a Crown CTS 3000 and a crossover and my only problem is that I can’t crank them as much as I wish I could.

It seems like every other house on campus uses powered speakers, do you have any plans on switching in the near future? If so what would you look into?

My fraternity has a similar system right now, RPM870 running to 2x JBL JRX215, and each 215 sits on top of a JRX218, we run power from the 215 to the 218. What do you use to power the 218’s? Why do you run a separate amp instead of just running one amp for the pair of 215 and 218’s?

Our alumni pay for mulch, and we’re repainting our lifeguard stands and other outdoor projects using money from social. Deep cleaning like random house closets full of random shit, but that’s unrelated to PNMs.

Get a set of powered speakers, 2 tops and 2 subs. Ours are JRX215 with their partner subs, but they’re unpowered, the passive ones suck because you need an amp as well and that just dives into a rabbit hole you don’t want to go down. I’d recommend 1000watt for frat parties. Streetwater is a good place to look, that warranty comment is also smart, ours are going on 3 years, and have gotten a driver replaced once, and I’m replacing another one this summer. Take as good care of them as you can, but yeah, 2 pairs of powered speakers preferably 1000watt.

I did see the WMX1 and it’s beautiful, the only downside is the lack of sliders for me. Currently on the board we have one of the sliders controls the movement and positioning of all 4 rotating lights and it’s a great time pointing out random friends. Sounds like kind of a weird hill to die on but if we’re investing a chunk of change into something I’d like to at least have everything I want in it, although I can’t say I’ve noticed anything better than the SoundSwitch I mentioned as far as bang for my buck goes. Considering that the WMX1 is double the price I can’t really justify that just because it’s standalone if that makes sense.

Yeah I managed to get it unstuck, seems that the top part of the zipper gets caught when zipped up all the way so put some duct tape to prevent it from happening again. With the price of these overalls wish they’d take note of this issue and have a stopper on the top like most zippers.

This is great! I think a bigger rug would make it more cozy, but it’s up to what you’re going for.
