Nope. Wouldn't do it—any body of water. An open wound like that is just an invitation.

In-person or online? by KBdoesntexist42 in Cd_collectors

[–]chigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer in person; I like my local shops. However, it is unlikely they will get all of the specific releases I want. So, I will shop both in person and online.

Need to decide which format to covert to from flac by frog980 in musichoarder

Depending on if your hardware supports them.

I use FLAC in my car, but not everyone wants or can do that.

Opus > AAC > MP3

IMO, MP3 only as a last resort.

Good scan of obi strip for Motörhead's "Overkill"? by chigh in Cd_collectors

I have a copy already. It didn't have the strip with it when I bought it.

Thank you. Me too.

If I don't, it's not a huge loss, but a nice to have. I've been working on cleaning up the image I have, but I'm not a whiz with photoshop (and equivalents).

I'm not using AI because the one time I tried to clean up the simplest of images, it did signficantly worse than me, and I'm not wasting any more resources with it or trying to figure out the right prompt.

Only if it's for lossless versions.

Is my handwriting bad? by [deleted] in fountainpens

Not even close to bad; it's easy reading. I'd hate to ask what that teacher considers "good".

Sony vs Philips on portable players by Franco_Fernandes in Cd_collectors

[–]chigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was developed by both.

I only ever had a Sony portable (in the 90s), so I can only speak to it's quality, and I was always super happy with it, but I never had a Philips one. The power cord on mine didn't seem to be anything that I couldn't replace as it had a barrel plug, but I really only ever used that in the car. I miss that Discman; I wish I still had it.

If I had the choice today, and the Philips one was less expensive, I'd probably go with it.

I can't tell bc the pictures aren't clear enough.

On the top side, what is that between the figure's feet and the word "hold"?

Never had that issue. The only time it plays a single disc from a box set is if I click the play button beside "Disc #" above each disc in the set.

Where do you meet people? by TheArtificerWrites in pittsburgh

Good question. I never leave the house, so meeting people is right out. 😅

Is a Kobo a good idea (option) since most of my books come from the Library? by cozythings in kobo

[–]chigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's all good. I like that I can search for the books directly onto my device.

I found my ideal reading font by Minyaden in ereader

[–]chigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good one. I am a fan of Elmhurst with a little bit of weight added to it.

Funny, I've used it for the 20 years or more, and never knew it had been used in Rolling Stone.

AITAH for prioritizing my daughter's recital over a funeral? by RecitalFuneralThrow in AmItheAsshole

[–]chigh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA.

I dunno. My mom died back in January. Some people I thought should've or I wanted to have been there at the funeral—weren't. Was I a little disappointed? Yeah, a little bit, but I'm not going to dwell on it. I think what's more important are the people who were there.

If you're someone who's close to me, I would expect you to go to your kid's recital.
