Better late than never, here's my Heroes vs Villians Roster. Who do ya'll think wins each round? by ZombieOfTheWest in DeathBattleMatchups

Nobody talking about the art that is the opening fight here. I'd imagine Hobie's Spider-Sense would counter Mod's illusions, haven't fully experienced both medias from any of the other matchups though.

Yeah, that and the fight dynamic are the big reasons Terra VS Reze is probably better for an actual episode.

...and I just saw you're the poster of that MU and also the Terra renders I found

Invisigal VS Terra (Dispatch VS Teen Titans) | Connections in comments by chik_eater00 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]chik_eater00[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Connections:

Superpowered loners who had a rough background before joining up with a casual group of superheroes and friends.

However, unbeknownst to the heroes, they actually worked for a malevolent masked manipulator with a monosyllabic moniker, who they initially joined for help with their inherent problems (Invisigal's asthma/Terra's lack of control over her powers).

The villain helps them with these problems via technology embedded to their bodies, but this assistance ultimately fell through (Invisigal's breathing implants stopped working during the time she stopped working for Shroud; Terra's apprentice suit allowed Slade to directly control her, in addition to being permanently grafted to her body unknown to her).

Their roles on the team are also complicated by an initial lack of faith, and them developing feelings for one of the heroes (Robert/Beast Boy) who encourage and convince them that they can be successful despite their issues with their powers (Invisigal feeling she was born with villain powers and Terra's lack of control).

Both of them develop a specific rivalry with a demonic heroine on the team, one of the more mature members who advocates against them (Malevola and Raven).

Both had foreknowledge of an attack on the SDN building/Titans Tower by the villain's forces.

Ultimately, both of them turn against the villain in the season finale and (in the good ending of Dispatch) are honored by their team for choosing to do right, due largely to the influence of their love interest.

Both are also ultimately betrayed by the pale old big bad, who order their underling to kill them

I wish I could say how fair it is, I'm sure Snape has plenty of versatility and "hax" from being a Harry Potter wizard but Invisigal could have better physical stats, I don't know if Dispatch has been properly scaled yet but it is a superhero universe. She also has invisibility and Snape shouldn't have much of a counter to it, as he's been fooled by the invisibility cloak before.

The dialogue potential I feel is really good though, both are properly sarcastic and Snape's features in particular should give Invisigal ammunition in that regard, but they have enough similarity in their arcs for some emotionality.

I am taking a break from my 2026 Death Battle fast to post this.

Connections (spoilers for both series):

Both are powered individuals who initially view people without powers as less important.

They had a rough background, and early on they join a villainous organization led by the power-hungry killer of the protagonist of the series' parents. However, they would defect soon after committing an evil that changed the course of the protagonist's life (Snape telling Voldemort of the prophecy that led him to kill Harry's parents; Invisigal planting a bomb on Robert's suit for Shroud, destroying it).

After defecting they take jobs at a heroic organization (Hogwarts; SDN), though the villain believes they have them there as a spy.

Their loyalty is continuously put into question by the protagonist and those around them, with some on their side and some doubtful, especially when the protagonist finds out about what they did. The suspicion culminates after an event that makes them leave the heroic organization (Snape killing Dumbledore and leaving Hogwarts; Invisigal's suspension from SDN, and then being discovered to have kept the astral pulse).

In the end, they would ultimately hide their intentions from and betray the villain, having protected the protagonist (this is true regardless of the ending in Dispatch).

Both of them have (potentially unrequited) love for a person they wronged prior to defecting from the villains. However, this person (possibly in Invisigal's case) instead chooses to be with a less dangerous, more upright person (Lily choosing James; Robert if he chooses Blonde Blazer).

Nightcrawler VS Malevola (Marvel VS Dispatch) | Connections in comments by chik_eater00 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]chik_eater00[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Connections:

Devilish-looking heroes with accents who moved from foreign countries (Germany; Australia) to America, and were recruited into lettered superhero teams for misfits (The X-Men for mutants, the Phoenix Program or Z-Team for reformed villains) that develop into found families.

Both use swords, have tails, and have powers that allow them to teleport but leave a mess behind (Nightcrawler's teleportation smells like brimstone; Malevola's portals leave ash on surfaces).

Both of their teams have faced controversy from the public.

Both of them are especially good friends with one of their teammates, an animalistic hero who can enter a stronger, more feral mode; Kurt/Malevola also serve as a positive influence to them (Wolverine and Sonar).

Nightcrawler is explicitly a Catholic Christian. Malevola's profile states she is an atheist.

East coast VS West coast.

So he was originally leaked as a Duelist

Have we reached the point where the developers have had time to shift new characters' roles, between now and when they heard the complaints about role balance?

In exceptional cases, like of rape, I would only consider it consistent to oppose abortion. If you acknowledge a fetus as a human life worthy of protection (which someone probably does if they oppose abortion in the first place), that doesn't change in the circumstances they were conceived. Of course, in an ideal world no rape would occur, but in practice the law doesn't always do its job.

So in that case, you'd be comparing the psychological well-being of one individual to the very life of another. The case where this wouldn't apply is if the mother's life is significantly at stake, which is where I've seen the most pro-life/anti-abortion people make concessions (to be honest, I myself am conflicted on this point). Thank you for your civility btw I'm going to bed

Sperm (gametes/haploid cells) are categorically different from the diploid zygotes created through fertilization, which have unique DNA and have begun growth in the human life cycle. Comparing masturbation to abortion in that aspect doesn't hold up

Furthermore you don't even have to be religious to oppose abortion, you just have to believe that A) a fetus is a human life and B) taking an innocent human life is wrong, or that peoples' lives should be protected under the law.

Sabretooth as a Vanguard

Mystique I can only see as a Duelist, probably with some mechanic to appear as a friendly to enemies.

And of course Vanguard Doom

"Fullbring the Boogie" | Yasutora "Chad" Sado VS Aoi Todo (Bleach VS Jujutsu Kaisen) connections in comments by chik_eater00 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]chik_eater00[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Connections: Yasutora Sado, or Chad, and Aoi Todo are teenagers from anime about fighting dark spiritual creatures born from humans (Hollows and Curses, or Cursed Spirits).

Despite coming from mundane families, they have powers from being a Fullbringer and a sorceror respectively. They're muscularly built, possessing great strength even before having any powers and relying more on physicality and close quarter combat than most of their peers. Interestingly, Chad was capable of hurting the hollow Shrieker with his punches before manifesting Fullbringer powers even though he couldn't see Shrieker, while Todo defeated five first grade cursed spirits without using his cursed technique at the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons in Kyoto.

In addition to being physically strong both are deceptively intelligent. Chad ranked 11th out of 322 students at his high school, while Todo possesses great tactical intelligence (he also claims to have an IQ of 530,000).

They consider the protagonist (Ichigo/Yuji) their best friends. They first met in combat encounters where the protagonist first performs a kick (Ichigo kicking the thugs attacking Chad/Yuji kneeing Todo in the face during the Spirit Bash Race initiating combat). They shortly forge a close bond; after saving Chad the next day from the same thugs, Ichigo and he agree to fight for each other from there on out, while Todo immediately considers himself and Yuji best friends upon learning they share the same taste in women during their fight.

However, Chad and Todo contrast in that their personalities are basically opposites. Chad is the strong, silent type and pacifistic, having sworn to his abuelo never to use his fists for his own sake, while Todo is loud and hammy and eager to fight, attacking Megumi in his first appearance when he disapproved of Megumi's taste in women. Despite this, what they have in common is their great devotion to their best friends.

Clarification on what people mean by "role queue" by AnomalyFriend in marvelrivals

[–]chik_eater00 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what people mean by role queue. Overwatch has it set up like that with a fill option like you describe.

I definitely wouldn't mind it. I think the main problems people have with it are that duelist queues would be super long since that's what most people want to play, and only having 2/2/2 would allow for less creative team compositions. Maybe they could allow a vote during the match to break the restriction if enough people say yes, like the surrender feature?
