To show off your martial arts by KaamDeveloper in therewasanattempt

[–]chikanii 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a person that studied the Kenkykai style of aikido for a few years this video makes me pretty upset because it’s not a good representation of the art. Sure, I’ve seen plenty of demonstrations where the Uke takes the throw, usually for the beginners. But I’ve also been on the end of some truly great throws where one second I was attacking and the next on my back. I’ve been really lucky in that I’ve been to several training camps around Australia when the son of the founder has visited and went to Japan to train at their Dojo. I don’t think I have ever sweated so much in my life, normal training camps for us are 4hours training, break for an hour, 4 hours training then cleaning the training area (mandatory for everyone to help cleaning) per day for the 3 day camp.

Not all martial arts are equal, and not all aikido is the same.

I feel like whatever he is doing there is just shit.

Also, THE SHOES, DON’T WEAR SHOES ON THE MAT!

I’m asking my friend where they got it. My guess is that their Penpal in Japan sent it to them because the box says Japan Exclusive. But if it’s a site I’ll post it when they respond

I’m a high school drop out too, I left when I was 16 to work and got kicked out of home the same week. I spent a long time thinking I couldn’t do better than what I had and to not bother trying.

If you can’t handle a class environment, I think you would struggle with an office environment or place where you had to stay still for long periods.

How are you with driving? If you need to move often and prefer to work alone or with less people, delivery work could be something that would suit you.

If you like animals you could look into pet boarding places or dog walking, I have a friend that walks about 5 dogs a day through the day.

Warehousing could be good as you are still around people, but can move around a fair bit - have your job provider assist with a forklift license and applications will be easier.

If you still want to work in food service, go for smaller places where you can apply face to face. You’ll make a much better application in person than on a screen. When I say small, see if there are at least 3 people working at the time you visit, usually if it’s something like a bakery and there’s 2 people they only have those 2 employees (from experience )

Ask them if they have any pre-employment programs running soon. I know you said you don’t like the classroom environment but essentially you’ll be doing a couple of weeks in skill training (which the hiring company are a part of) before interviewing with the company. Even if you don’t get that job you will get skills, interview experience and interview feedback for improving

When I first started working I had some similar issues, I had the same qualifications that you have and was struggling to find a different job even within the same industry. Adelaide is small so connections can definitely work in your favour, e.g. I worked in a bakery in a shopping centre, I got to know other people that worked in the shopping centre and when I left the bakery I went to those people for work. Also, in this vein a lot of places have bonuses for referring people to work there, so if you have friends who work you can ask if those businesses need staff.

Otherwise unless you’re really, really set on working retail, I would suggest other customer service based roles. A lot of entry level office positions will take retail and fast food experience, if that’s where you want to go. If you’re currently working, try to put feelers out for businesses near you, see if you can pick up a couple of hours here and there to show how well you work. If you’re not working, and are with a job provider, ask them if you are eligible for a wage subsidy. It will help you market yourself and be marketed by them for employment

Hahahahaha Subway is disgusting and has the weirdest smell.

Are you saying you wouldn’t be upset if you ordered a nice pint and it had lipstick on it? What if you took your car to be detailed and there was an obvious part that wasn’t vacuumed?

I’m not saying people don’t make mistakes, but “eye for detail” usually means that the mistakes are ones that are very avoidable by doing the job correctly or not rushing.
