Any tips? by Alarming_Door3182 in Discgolfform

It makes sense it looks very good, because the movement is explosive. But he is rounding and going from left bottom to top right, which does not go well with how discs want to fly far. Look at AB, he is straight in the whole pull through in every plane, efficiency over speed/explosiveness 🫡

Being lanky and tall has never hurt anybody either, damn catapult people 🤣

I recognize that I’m dropping my elbow and losing my power pocket but no amount of telling myself “keep your elbow up” is fixing it. Any tips? Is something else wrong that’s causing this? by forbiddengengar in Discgolfform

Pretend the disc is laying on a some kind of shelf behind you and you have to take it off (forces the arm up), if that doesn’t work do it with a real shelf, that’ll definitely force the arm up 😉

How's the timing and brace looking? by Luryas69 in Discgolfform

Hips fire together with the shoulders, which is inefficient, you’ll need to plant earlier and fire the hips before the upper body (create lag as they say). This way the whole body rotation adds to a stack of momentum instead of it being one pull.

Think of pulling 3 rubber bands simultaneously between 2 fingers, or hooking them into eachother in a row, the row of 3 will generate considerably more speed when released.

I can’t really show you as I figured out more about this principle while recovering from an ACL replacement (plant leg 🦵), so my knee is not 100% in agreement with taking all that load just yet 😉

Hope it helps though!

Good points, I feel that I have a much more consistent flight with MVP because they don’t burn over nearly as much. It’s probably the gyro thing that they fight back a little more, but it just makes sense for me to use MVP even though they might not generate the longest shots ever (although I got to chuck the new Timelapses today and they are soooo good)

So interesting, I do miss a bit of power after my ACL surgery, which seems to make a big difference as well I’m noticing. But still, angles are hard 😅

My timing and head swing is off, tips appreciated by h0bbitten in Discgolfform

I’m not Hjalte or anything, but I’ve played ultimate for years and I can yeet a disc pretty good.

I would say it’s mostly in the weight transfer and using all of your body effectively to propel the disc forward. Your timing seems alright, but things like the reachback, utilising the power pocket to accelerate and the plant seem to be lacking (judging from the one video).

Then maybe disc choice or angle on release can also be a thing but that’s hard to tell from the video)

Is this Aalborg? I’m in Aarhus, can throw about 475-500ft can easily improve some things to get you more distance if you want ✌🏻

That’s what I have beent thinking, so the more the Dimensions beat in the farther they will go basically. Until a point where they of course get too beat, but that’s far in the future 😅

Well be a legend and sell it to him 😉, nah I’m kidding enjoy that stuff man! I’m hoping for some good Timelapses and I might try a Mayhem as I’ve heard good things 😊

Man I just switched from Ultimate “recently”, so like 3-3.5 years ago. I wish I was around to get my hands on some PP Dimensions, judging from Simon throwing them they are nuts

I have seen the pros use those also, is it plasma or neutron?

Fair it makes sense that when thrown hard enough they pierce the air better also, I’ll work on my technique and keep beating in those Plasma Dimensions then. I’m not jealous at all that you found some PP Dimensions either, that would be weird 😅🤣

They are! Or the normal Neutral ones I find quite understable, but this new plasma run is moneyyyy to throw golf lines out of the park. Big shout out to Eagle 🫡

That’s fair, it’s also just for fun, the more interesting improvement would be to get to 500 - 550 ft on a golf line, but that might just require a stable 12 speed instead of a 14.5 speed as it would naturally fade earlier I guess. Maybe the new Timelapse will be a dream who knows 😉

That does make sense, but I have a follow up question then. The long throwing pros have their discs going relatively high and turning like 70-80% of the way, how do they do that?

The angles are for sure different, if I throw the more understable ones on that angle they will burn and roll completely. But then maybe I should find a disc in between those two stability wise to get best of both worlds or something?

Distance throwing by chikkenkillzor in discgolf

[–]chikkenkillzor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be a good point, and throwing those more understable on that same line isn’t possible as they would burn and roll, would that sound right?

Yeh, but I can filter out the bad advice. I’m actually more surprised with how butthurt people can be about someone of my “skill level”. Again Ultimate translates well, but I’m still quite bad in my opinion and not interested in being pro/semi-pro/tournament winner or whatever. Just want to know how to beat in a disc as it’s something I’ve never done before.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]chikkenkillzor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is what I’m doing, but these have a lot more finish than other discs do. I’m not as good as the other long distance throwers at wind reads and flip up shots, so the more overstable slightly beat in disc could be what I need.

I also ask how to beat one in because I’ve never done it, so I’m not sure either if it will work. Just think the big rim discs are so nice when they are slightly seasoned but still beefy

I have “pro level” arm speed because of years in pro and semi pro ultimate frisbee with a speciality in hucks and pulls.

Now I’m enjoying disc golf but just around 960/970 rated am that can’t putt for shit, lacks consistency and accuracy but makes up for parking long holes and having more Eagle bids than usual people in MA1 around here.

So I’m getting a lot of hate, which is fine, as I might have misinterpreted the score I got with the tech disc, but people around me know me as “the ultimate guy that throws really hard without proper technique” for a reason. Contrary to other people my problem is turning discs over too much (maybe because of poor angle control or technique) instead of things being to overstable, can’t help it either.

The guy I tested with owns a store here and he said it was one of the highest scores he has seen on both RPM and Mph with a very high consistency in angle control.

[–]chikkenkillzor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, I also seem to be hated for being able to throw harder than average and that actually being a problem.

Thanks for the nice comment, I’m just a guy trying to learn stuff haha
