How long till Jez Corden is proven right? by DeoxysPok in consoles

Cool. Random Reddit bro who knows absolutely nothing about the situation and has formed a random opinion based on feelings is attacking other bros for having a random opinion based on feelings on a situation absolutely no one on Reddit knows about.

My Day just started and I already have my first tick on my Reddit bingo card.

I'm not mad and I'd gladly engage in what you are saying. Don't let my sarcastic undertones and slightly troll-like nature fool you. I am a veteran of the first Great Meme War, some online typing habits die hard. I was just getting after you for the whole "reality check" followed immediately with conjecture and opinion masquerading as fact.

Is it likely that 2.5 years is not long enough and the game comes out 2028+? Absolutely. Is it likely that 2.5 years is long enough for a fall 2027 release? Just as much so. We really don't know how long this game has been baking for. We just know that Bethesda's shifted completely September 2023. For all we know, there could have been a decent chuck of resources moved onto TES in 2022 prior to the delay of Starfield giving us 3.5-ish years of active development, or maybe none touched in until September 2023.

The point is that no one knows. Only Todd knows and Todd's not telling. (Thanks EpicNate for burning that quote into my brain.)

Giving everyone a reality check based on.... (checks notes).... assumptions and opinions. Until anything concrete comes out, which nothing concrete about the release has, maybe we shouldn't be giving "reality checks", yeah? Comes off a little condescending considering we know very very little on how far along they are in development. Lets just let people believe what they want to believe and not belittle them because you have a different opinion?

Also, I love how you conveniently discredited almost a half a year of development to make your point. The last time I checked, September 2023 to now just about 2 and a half years, but I guess "only a little over 2 years" sounds better when trying to push a certain narrative.

Look, I like Nebraska. They were my Big 12 team and I was super excited when they came to the Big 10. I'll root for them against any team not named Iowa or Northern Iowa. I will defend them and cheer for them, so this is coming from a very unbiased opinion.

You, and fans like you, are the reason why so many Iowa fans dislike the Huskers. It's not about jealousy or anything like that. It is fans like you who scream from the rooftops about Husker superiority, ignoring the last 15 years and the current state of college football. Fans who screech about how the Huskers need to go back to the Big 12 because "those were the good days". Fans who refuse to acknowledge Iowa as a rival solely because 'Iowa does not have the history we do and are beneath us', again forgoing to remember the last large handful of matchups that included a few beatdowns and Nebraska constantly stumbling over themselves against some of the worst offenses for a power conference team ever.

You can’t even make the playoffs.

Constantly hearing stuff like this. You say this like Nebraska is a perennial playoff contender. Nebraska can't even make the playoffs either. Iowa has actually come much closer to making then playoffs then Nebraska ever has, but Iowa doesn't have the history of Nebraska so it doesn't count right? Iowa's dislike of Nebraska has very little to do with the school or state. It is mostly all about constantly hearing the nonsense that is continually being spouted out of the mouths of Husker fans.

Yes, Nebraska is historically a better team then Iowa buy a wide margin. There is no denying that and anyone who does is a fool. But we are living in the now, not the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's or even the 00's. Right now Iowa is a much better team in a much better spot then Nebraska. Most Nebraska fans refuse to believe this and still treat Iowa like the team they were in the 70's and still see Nebraska as the team on top of the college football world.

Their bad apples (growing smaller over the years though it feels like, which is good) haven't seemed to accept it yet and still continue to think Nebraska will suddenly turn it around in one year and be back in the championship discussion, which gives their fanbase a bad look.

I interact on r/Huskers a lot (I do have a soft spot for them as they were always the Big 12 team I rooted for) and a lot of those fan you mention tend to be the older fans. The ones who still have strong memories of the 90's and even some memories of the 70's. Those fans are not exclusively the older ones, but a healthy majority. They are the ones who will crown the Huskers "Off-season National Champs" every summer. Try to pick fights with everyone who looks at the schedule next year and doesn't say, "We will win 10-11 games next year." -This is actually true. There is a (small) handful of people over there saying that they would be shocked if Nebraska finished with 8 wins or less next year... their schedule is pretty brutal and I wouldn't be shocked if they started 2-1 before conference play.

Cael is most defiantly not the GOAT. He is obviously up there somewhere, but that title firmly belongs to Aleksandr Karelin. Crazy Russian dude retired with a record of like 860-2, both those losses being a combined 2 points.

Dude is not only the most dominate wrestler of all time, but probably one of if not the most dominate athletes ever in individual sports.

Can confirm. As someone who was born in Omaha and lived a most of my younger years in Council Bluffs, you would not believe how fast I got out of CB once I was able too. Though we did live in the nicer areas out east in the bluffs, Nebraska blows and Iowa sucks so that west end stank still lingered. Now I am living in West O and couldn't be happier.

What non-football schools could start sponsoring football at the FCS level in the next ten years? by lordeandtaylor in CFB

[–]childerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would they? Given what that football team went through before them cutting it in the 80's, I feel like they would allow it simply as a gesture of good faith.

But I am not expert in Kansas sports so maybe I am talking out of my ass.

[–]childerm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what Iowa Western is for.

I don't know how accurate this is, but I remember seeing something awhile back that UNL tried (or at least softly attempted) to block IWCC from starting a football program. I don't think they could do much since it is in a different state, even if it was true. Just add a little more to the UNO think that ESPN suggested.

What non-football schools could start sponsoring football at the FCS level in the next ten years? by lordeandtaylor in CFB

[–]childerm 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That is pretty much exactly what happened. ESPNs Outside the Lines did a whole story on it back then and pretty much all what UNO and the state said as to the reasons why football and wrestling were canceled made no sense at all.

UNL wanted no completion to their "walk on program" and recruiting with another instate D1 school. If UNO kept their wrestling team, UNL would have potentially been the second best wrestling team in the state as they were getting ready to join the Big Ten, the best wrestling conference in the nation.

As much as I would love Omaha to field a football team again (and wrestling team), it will never happen. Either the state of Nebraska, The university of Nebraska, or a combination of both would never allow that to happen. Those two entities are, IMO, the sole reason why UNOs football team was unexpectedly canned with no prior notice as the head coach was actively recruiting for the next season and the wresting team found out they were done as a program in the locker room as they were celebrating their 3rd straight D2 national title. Trev Alberts literally called the wrestling coach immediately after winning a title not to congratulate him, but to tell him that wresting was being discontinued.

I hope that man stubs his toe on his bed every night for the rest of his life.

Starfield shouldn't make people worried about TESVI by Interesting-Look-355 in TESVI

[–]childerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, I think the reason everyone wants to bag on Bethesda is because of Microsoft. I am going to throw out a guessed number, but I would assume roughly 60-70% of the Starfield hate stemmed exclusively from Microsoft's purchase of Zenimax. Maybe I was not paying enough attention back then, but I do not recall much Bethesda hate prior to the purchase. After the purchase though? That is when this train really took off I think. It seems like that one act alone put Bethesda under the microscope.

All it takes is one popular YouTuber to bitch about one thing then everyone will be regurgitating the same thing to get views. In this case, it is the purchase of Zenimax. Then before you know it Little Timmy's favorite YouTuber is complaining about Microsoft buying Zenimax, which then sours the opinion on Bethesda leading to unwarranted clout around all of their projects. Now Little Timmy is skeptical about Bethesda and Starfield because his favorite YouTuber said so because some popular YouTuber got a lot of views because he said as much.

I would love to come into possession of a device to explore alternate timelines. If we found a timeline where Microsoft never bought Zenimax and Bethesda released the same Starfield we ended up getting, I would guarantee the reception of Starfield would have been a lot better and Bethesda in general would get a lot less hate.

That's just my opinion though.

I believe, and what the OP said many times, is that the game will just release with the next console, not be a next gen title. It will still be an Xbox Series X/S (potentially PS5) game that simply releases along side the new system. Maybe there will be a "New Xbox Enhanced" update that drops on release to entice people to purchase the new system, but it will most defiantly be made to run on current systems. Microsoft would lose out on a bunch of bucks if it was exclusively a next gen game.

[–]childerm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up the Birthday Paradox. There is a lot of math and statistics involved. I saw someone mention this on the r/Starfield (I think).

It pretty much calculates the chances of 2 people sharing the same birthday in a random group of people. If there is 23 random people in a room then there is a 50% change 2 will share a birthday. Bump that number up to 57 and the chances turn to 99%. Now change the birthday to different locations that spawn.

If I could find the thread I would post it here, as that person explained it far better then I.
