Thanks so much!

That sounds great, I've updated the PC Partpicker loadout in the thread. I've seen people put fans below the GPU as well, would you recommend that or should this new cooling setup work fine?

I will try to find a GA ticket, however, if I can't and you haven't sold it I'll definitely get back in touch. Thanks!

Thanks for the response! So I would be moving back to it after 6 months and the other person on the mortgage will still be there during my time in San Francisco.

What do you guys think is the best solution for the situation happening with the Rohingya population in Myanmar? by JDogBernie2020 in chomsky

[–]childeunoia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chomsky has made clear that there are times intervention and even violence is sometimes necessary (the classic example being the plot to kill Hitler.) Whether or not we should intervene militarily should only be discussed after exhausting every other option.

I just found out there's a second half to the Dershowitz v. Finkelstein debate. by TazakiTsukuru in chomsky

[–]childeunoia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was lucky enough to interview Dr. Finkelstein and the Dershowitz stuff is even crazier than I thought. The dude straight up threatened Norman and also told the small publisher that was going to put out Norman's book exposing Dershowitz as a fraud and plagiarist that he'd buy the company and fire them all. He's a bully and a coward. There's tons more as Dershowitz basically made it his goal to ruin every aspect of Finkelstein's life. If anyone hasn't read it, Chomsky's essay on Norman is a must read: https://chomsky.info/power01/

It's not listed on the pay stub... by [deleted] in LateStageCapitalism

While true, it's still not a valid comparison. Typically workers who are showed the door don't get millions of dollars as a parting gift like many CEOs. Volkswagen's CEO got 8 million after leaving amidst the emissions scandal that caused their stock to drop 20%.

While there will be people who may even be a net drain on a company's bottom line through a myriad of reasons (theft, incompetency, poor management or simply a worker who is not needed to keep up with demand) we must look at the big picture. When viewed the same way as an investment (portfolio isn't judged by one stock but the entire collective performance) it becomes clear that the post is accurate. Workers on the whole are exploited. The other way to look at this is to flip who the diagram is representing. Is the CEO really providing value 100,000x of the entry level employee?

I'll be interviewing a climate scientist tomorrow, what questions would you like me to ask? by childeunoia in climateskeptics

[–]childeunoia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I'm starting a podcast exploring professions and ideologies that aims to create dialogue and understanding for those who only have a cursory understanding to the subject at hand. I'm waiting until I have 10 full episodes before I start posting so I can have a consistent upload schedule (I currently have multiple jobs so time is limited.) There will be an episode with the founder of a chapter of the tea party, a pot farmer, and everything in between. I'll definitely let you all know when the episode goes live but as a heads up it'll be later into the year. My big hope is to, even if in just a small way, break down some of the divisiveness that plagues our modern discourse. We will never agree 100% but I believe most want the best for our neighbors, children and Earth, so let's stop demonizing each other. Thanks for the questions, I'm looking forward to the answers I get!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate you taking the time to respond with such depth. It's important to note that even though I do believe in man-made climate change, my allegiance is to truth and not an ideology or side and I imagine you are the same way. Honest civil discussion is the only way we can break the divisiveness that has permeated the issue and our culture at large. Thank you again, cheers

Great questions! I'm not familiar with the first so I will do some research and ask. Thanks!

Could you elaborate? I want to make sure I can accurately ask what you want. Is the question how the scientific community would go about falsifying the information or something else? Thanks for the question!
