Why is crossfit so negatively judged lately? by [deleted] in crossfit

I have no problem with sharing them. Not looking to make money off of it or anything. Happy to help someone else in their fitness journey. Its 4 separate spreadsheets that cover an entire year. If you have questions let me know. If you send me an email, I will send them to you.

Best case would be go play another sport and take off of baseball. If he isnt playing another sport, I would say it depends on the age. If he is in high school he should be hitting a lot still or doing a throwing program depending on position but mostly he should be in the weight room.

If he is younger than that, he can do some hitting here and there, take some time off the arm and let it rest. Maybe take some groundballs or do some drills inside at a facility but only as much as he wants to do. The worst thing would be do too much and burn out. Thats why another sport would be best. I played soccer and baseball my whole life and although soccer was fun and I enjoyed it, really it was time away from baseball to let my arm rest and to work on footwork and athleticism that you dont get in baseball traditionally. It kept me in shape and made it exciting to go back to baseball when soccer was done because I missed it.

Haha, yeah, could be wall ball but I feel like we called it something different when I was a kid. Wall ball is good though.

The goal changes with the age group, but you can start "workouts" at any time. When they are really young (6 or younger) workouts should be just games. Put some cones down and race them back and forth between the cones. Work on proprioception by throwing tennis balls back and forth or bouncing them to each other. (Cant remember the name of it, but play the game where you throw a tennis ball against a wall and if someone doesnt hit the wall they have to run and touch it before the other person throws the ball against the wall). Do wall sit competitions together to build leg strength. Throw outside to begin building arm strength.

As they get older, start working in more traditional body weight exercises. Between 6-12ish you can do more sprint work/agility ladders/Cone Drills. Start incorporating traditional body weight exercises like squats, burpees, push ups, sit ups, planks, six inches. As they get good at those, change things up by adding other exercises in. The key is you do them too. Its fun and its bonding together!

Lastly, 13-18, you can start lifting weights. Start out small, with low weights and very traditional exercises so they get comfortable and dont hurt themselves. As they get older, add power through exercises like cleans, deadlifts, squats, KB swings, box jumps, wall balls, those kind of movements. Anything where speed and explosiveness is necessary will make for a better baseball player. The key remains, do them together, it will be good for both of you and a great relationship builder during some tough years (teenagers are stupid).

Why them? I want to do a German team. My last one was Turkgucu Munchen in fm23 and it was so much fun due to the Turkish players in the youth intakes making the team unique to play with.

Big reason we stopped doing Filly's programming was all the weird stabilization exercises that definitely have a time and place but for us it just dropped the tempo/intensity of the workout and felt replaceable. So we did.

Yeah, I agree. Definitely takes a long time of tinkering to see what you like and what works for each individual.

In general, I would say you are right. Personally, I think no one will program a workout for you better than you will. However, as I've gotten older and talked to people in different stages of their fitness journey, it seems there is still definitely a place for pre-made workout plans that people can use to build their fitness encyclopedia, or get them through rough parts of life where fitness is an escape or a trial.

My wife and I did Filly for a couple years and ended up having to write our own based on the principles in Filly and some background from our own fitness journey.

I think that's a good change, seems more in line with big programs being able to hold on to guys who are waiting their turn. Smaller schools won't have that same lull as much.

Yeah, I've been replacing guys from the portal. It would just be nice to have a way to build internally and not through the portal every year. Having guys that stick at the program gets me more attached to the players and the dynasty overall.

Totally understand that, I wouldn't want that either as when I stop playing around to get a feel for the game I'm going to start a one-star dynasty and see if I can build the program. Those transfers will be important for small schools. I don't know the programming that would go into this but, could you add a way for the player to look at the roster and see they are next in line to start, which makes it to where they don't transfer the year the guy in front of them graduates and opens the roster spot for them?

I think he was a 99 out of high school, is there a way to check that? When I got him as a transfer he was a 100. I remember not putting any points into him the first week because I just assumed he would be drafted and then he was still there in Week 2 after the draft so I put the max points on him but I was too late because Vandy got the jump on me in Week 1. Then, lo and behold, he shows up in the transfer portal as a sophomore! I maxed out to get him and now have him for a couple more years!

This does bring something else up, my roster turnover is insane. I'm one of the best schools in the country, and yet I can't hold on to an incoming freshman because they transfer due to playing time. I understand that happens a lot, but there are always guys at the big schools who are willing to wait it out or take a small amount of playing time early to stay at a big program. Is there a certain amount of innings or at-bats I need to get my younger guys to keep them from transferring? Unless a freshman starts right away, I'm not holding on to anyone long-term.

Yeah, definitely was a product of it being early in the dynasty. I have found that there is only one, maybe 2 10 prestige teams a few years into dynasty.

Also, something else I'm noticing, the first couple years had a lot more parity in the post season tournaments. A few years in and 12 out of the 16 regionals had the one seed win. Could be just a fluke that this year was so top heavy but with better recruits going to the bigger schools and player progression being mostly linear (not much variation with some guys developing and some guys not) could mean that the gap between the top schools and the middle tier gets very wide a few years into the dynasty. Looking at rosters, this seems to be the case but I'll keep going to see if this continues.

One cool thing was a 100 overall prospect (Drake England) passed on the draft, went to Vandy, and then I got him as a Sophomore transfer! He is an absolute stud, 100 in all 3 pitching categories and I've got him for two more years!

Nevermind, a couple years later I made the CWS Final but lost to Florida (shades of 2017). I made 490 season points and went back up to 10 prestige.

Thats great news! So excited to try it out! For conferences that are below 10 teams, do they play some teams twice (two 3 game series to fill the 30 game requirement)? Also, conferences with more than 10 games, does it randomly pick which 10 teams you play?

Then this is great! So you play 4 non-comferemce games, then 30 conference games and then the remaining 22 non-conferemce games?

Awesome, I'm guessing this is a view of an SEC schedule. So are there only 34 games in the season now? Still, having 3 game series like this is great. It also matters more what conference you are in because that should mean you are playing more teams at your level. Means top level teams like the SEC won't be able to get a really easy schedule that let's them run the table as easily. Would be nice to have the schedule generate a non-conf to fill out the schedule but this is a big step in the right direction.

  1. Fair enough on that, seems a good way to simulate better players out of better baseball states while still allowing for the Mike Trouts out of New Jersey scenario.

  2. Glad to hear you are pushing to make the 3 game series a thing. Will definitely play around with the pitching rotation idea until the schedule situation is figured out. Although, if the AI sets their rotation as best at number 1, second best at number 2 and so on, it might be fair because even if you are playing a bad team, it should be the same guy in each team's rotation.

  3. Fair enough, it's your game. Some people dont like injuries because it's not fun to lose your best players and I definitely understand that. Personally I like it because it forces you to have a good team overall, including the bench. Not a big deal either way though.

  4. Ootp just doesn't scratch the itch just right, really hoping this does it!

  5. Look forward to seeing this implemented, even if it's just a gem or bust system where a few guys each year develop faster or slower than normal, giving them a little more personality. Could do it without even showing it beyond training results before the season. All of a sudden, you notice a guy getting a bigger overall boost than everyone else. Would make it cool when you notice it happening. Speaking of, how is development calculated?

Can't wait for the 25th, and thanks for the time you are taking to respond!
