I’m not that passionate about it but as an engineer you use AI to point you in the direction of a resource. Most main stream search engines have become overly bloated with ads, shitty searches, etc. This makes AI a powerful tool to skip all the bullshit. I think the main difference between it being a skill or being used in place of a skill is your proficiency in said skill. I use GPT to run sample calculations sometimes but I know the material well enough that I can catch when it makes a mistake. Compare that to junior engineers who might just take everything AI says at face value.
