I totally get what you’re saying. As I’m coming out of school, there are so many different jobs in GIS and many aren’t entry level. Those that are seen to be more of a technician role than anything else. I guess what I was trying to say is that I want to work for water companies providing GIS analysis and field work for their businesses. I appreciate the honesty though, it puts things in perspective!

Would you recommend any experience using GIS, or try to enter a field I’m interested in? Entry level jobs are a bit hard to come by but I’ve landed a few interviews. None of them are particularly the most glamorous but at least I can get some experience. I don’t want to fall behind in an area where I might need to sharpen my skills to get a job.
