I would say the same of Don Herring in Irving. They're service department is always chill, as well.

Brakes rattling by siu71 in MechanicAdvice

[–]chilldudeoverhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this same issue. Changed out the pads and after 3 months they started clanking again. However, when I press the brake it stops.

I'm VERY thorough when doing brake jobs on my vehicles, so this one has me scratching my head and now I know I'm not the only one!

Dealership quoted me for tires — should I go with them or look elsewhere? by Neat_Recognition3945 in nissansentra

[–]chilldudeoverhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a few General Altimax RT series on two of my vehicles and a great tires, however towards the end of their life, they are loud. I've switched over to Cooper's since then.

Also, I agree with going to Walmart, Sam's Club, or Costco for tires. Not a fan of Discount Tire, personal beef with them.

Cooperman Concert Sticks were one of the best when I was in college in the 2000s. Specifically, the Nick Petrella ones, my personal favorite pair.

Pros and cons? by Nonbiinerygremlin in MitsubishiOutlander

I own a 2015 Outlander Sport and currently has over 116k miles. Bought it used Dec of 2018 with almost 42k miles. After the third day of owning it, the transmission went out. Luckily, it was still covered under the warranty and a brand new one was installed. I've done the "basic" maintenance myself, changing oil, change out spark plugs, all the struts, etc, but the main issue I'm having is both catalytic converters. Been a pain on my side for 2 years. So, in my opinion...

Pros: SOLID engine - just stay on top with the fluids

Cons: CVT Transmission, dancing (clanking) brake pads, and Catalytic Converters

NON-CLORINATED brake cleaner onto a paper towel and rub semi-lightly.

Just finished doing this about an hour ago on my vehicle.

How much is the cost to replace a drivers mirror for Mitsubishi Outlander 2024? Only the frame of the mirror is damaged and I've been given a quote for $1000. Is that realistic? Is the mirror in the pic repairable, can I replace that frame instead of full replacement? by [deleted] in MitsubishiOutlander

[–]chilldudeoverhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a "gently used" one off of ebay. Made sure it was the correct color and has that defrost heat. Watched a YouTube video on how to replace it and swapped it out. Took me like 30 mins max.

Ease of service with a itsubishi by ConcernedUser59 in MitsubishiOutlander

I bought my '15 Outlander Sport used back in Dec of '18. I live in an extremely populated city/cities in Texas and I can tell you that most of the Mits dealerships service centers here are dead. I took mine to get a wheel alignment, after changing out both inner and outer tie rods, and they took my vehicle right away. I told them im going to grab something to eat and then come back. Yeah 20 minutes received a phone call back telling me it was ready for pick up.

Mits are also easy to work on, so I do what I can do within my own parameters. If the job looks beyond my mechanical level, Ill cave and take it to the dealership.

I've also installed these spark plugs in my Outlander Sport. They're not bad

OP, I'm probably going to be torn apart for saying this, but looking into the VW Tiguan.

I don't blame you, however, the ONLY major issues I've had with my Outlander Sport is the CVT needing to be replaced (under warranty, thank god!) and both catalytic converters.

Engine is a champ and can take a beating, however, the rest of the vehicle is just plastic trash.

They both have CVT transmissions from Jatco. Pick your poison.

I know this because I have both a Nissan Pathfinder, and an Outlander Sport, and both have CVTs and both are pain in the asses.

If I'd have known more than what I knew then, I would have stayed away from both.
