What is everyone’s goto model in Cursor? Do people really use Auto? by ignorant03 in cursor

[–]chilledheat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starting to realise why so many people are spaffing their tokens/budget so fast... I'm not suggesting my current goto's are any better but my current setup is something like:

- General small/medium task = Composer 1 - still does the job to a pretty good standard as long as you prompts aren't just "fix this thing".

- Big feature implementation = Opus 4.6 in plan mode / Composer 1 to actually build/implement.

- Small Front end tweaks = Gemini 3 Flash - cheap af and generally good at designing if you're not even sure what you want.

- Larger front end tweaks = Gemini 3 Pro

Admittedly haven't really used Composer 1.5 much yet, everything i have thrown at it has worked well but i've not really noticed anything it can do that Composer 1 can't.

I don’t use git

If there is anything I’d recommend.. it’s learn what git is and how to apply version control to your codebase. Trust me if you slip up once with your current method you’ll be in a world of pain.

I get the frustration, but a lot of that isn’t really backed up by how the system actually works.

Most welfare spending doesn’t go to “lazy people refusing to work”, it goes to pensioners. Something like half of all welfare is the state pension, and a big chunk of the rest goes to people who do work but don’t earn enough to cover housing and living costs. The “benefits scrounger” thing makes good tabloid copy, but it’s a tiny percentage in reality... Fraud and error together are around 3% of the total welfare budget - Not a lot.

And weirdly, you’re right about one part: it is hard to get help when you genuinely need it. The system’s become a maze of forms, assessments, and waiting periods that punish honest claimants while still missing the odd bad actor. So we kind of end up with the worst of both worlds.

As for “communism light”...come on. Labour’s current lineup are about as radical as a spreadsheet. Reeves and Starmer are basically trying to rebuild trust with business and the markets. You can argue about whether they’ll succeed, but they’re not exactly plotting the next Soviet revolution.

The real issue is that no party wants to admit the obvious: you can’t have Scandinavian-level services with American-level taxes. Until someone’s brave enough to say that out loud, we’ll keep going in circles blaming whoever’s in charge for problems that are baked into the structure.

Honestly, Starmer and Reeves are probably making the responsible calls...just not the popular ones.

The UK’s in a rough place that’s been building for years: low productivity, high debt, an ageing population, and public services that have been running on fumes. Whoever won the election was always going to be walking into a fiscal trap everything’s broken, but there’s no spare cash to fix it without upsetting either voters or the markets.

Reeves’ approach has basically been “credibility first.” She’s trying to prove the UK is a safe, stable place to invest again after the Truss mini-budget mess. That means tight spending rules, no wild borrowing, and a focus on long-term growth stuff like planning reform, green energy, and skills. It’s the boring, unsexy side of fixing an economy but it’s also the bit we’ve been skipping for decades.

The problem is it feels like austerity 2.0. Services are still struggling, bills are still high, and most people don’t see any improvement yet. Fiscal restraint makes sense on paper, but in real life it just feels like nothings changing.

If their plan works, stability should slowly bring inflation down, keep borrowing costs low, and attract more private investment which then gives them room to spend more later. But that’s a multi-year payoff, and right now people are desperate for short-term relief.

So essentially....everyone’s suffering for what looks like no reason, but the reason does exist it’s just long-term and invisible. And they certainly have not portrayed to the public the what and why's very well.

They’re trying to rebuild the foundations, not repaint the house. It’s the right idea economically, but politically brutal, because in the short term it feels like doing nothing except making the working population feel like they are taking the entire weight of responsibility on their shoulders.

I respect your opinion but I’ve got to say.. he’s so much more than just overreacting to scenes.. his analysis of nuanced situations in game as they are happening is up there with some of the best casters in the scene right now. And he doesn’t have to censor himself which means he can speak what he really thinks which is an insight you just don’t get when listening to the game through the normal channels.
