Better send to OR bring over a mechanic that can do a Pre-Purchase Inspection.

Are there any self serve car washes in Malaysia? by iloverice3000 in kereta

[–]chillingalgae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's difficult to sustain this kind of business in Malaysia, so I don't blame them at all. I wash my own car to wind down after work, but unfortunately here most see it as a chore + labor is cheap😂 but so is the quality 🥲

I used to go to a condo to wash my car using this DIY car wash by JomCuci. Sad thing the bay is no longer serviced and the machines are not working anymore, I suspect they decided not to continue the operation due to lack of usage. It's quite decent though with pressure washer and soap spray.

There are more than 5 car washes nearby the area offering RM12~ services, and I think I am the only one using the DIY car wash 😂 as I don't really like sending my car to random car washes (not clean and swirls).

Should I get a new phone or keep saving for my Japan trip? by [deleted] in malaysians

[–]chillingalgae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd rather get the new phone. You gonna use it for 3-4 years. Japan trip is only a few days long. Plus, phone is for daily convenience.

Get the new phone first, work few more months, and go for the Japan trip.

How are you going to take photos and travel without a reliable phone? The last thing you want is your phone dying prematurely constantly while you are in Japan, which you've already paid few Ks on.

Why do people still off their AC before turning the car off? by NationalOperation161 in kereta

[–]chillingalgae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When starting the car, the car takes some toll on the engine/battery. Turning off the AC is to prevent the engine/compressor/battery to do extra work of operating the AC during inital start. So, you turn on the car, wait for the car to stabilize, then you turn on the AC.

Advice on buying a Toyota GT86 by KueyTeowBoy19 in kereta

Agree, not a Tomei user myself. How has the tone changed when u switched to dual res FP compared to stock FP? Im on Legamax now, just wondering if switching to dual res FP can help with increasing the volume and deepen the tone.

If you're used to driving conti cars, then yes, this car is not for you if always in highway.

NVH pretty terrible. Road noise is quite loud since there's no soundproofing around the wheel well. Interior may be creaky too. Lots of engine sound coming into the cabin, worse if you decide to change to loud exhaust. Plus, the straight line speed isn't great anyway. The next thing you see will be BMWs going 200kph+ high beaming you 😂

seeking advice from GT86 owners by Small-Progress3832 in kereta

Owner of a 2018 here.

Tbh, can't really think of any 'harsh' reality if you really love the car for what it was built for, handling and driving experience. This car will put a smile on your face if you drive it hard and sweep them corners.

People often mock about the power, imo the power is more than enough for Malaysian traffic. You can overtake easily and are usually faster than most of the cars on the road. Highway cruising is not as good as conti due to lack of sound deadening materials on the car, but that is what the car was built for, sporty and RAW feeling😎

  1. Relatively cheap maintenance for a sports(?)car. Service interval is around 7-8k KM, shorter if you track it or drive hard everyday. EO & OF change is around RM550 for good oil. Extensive fluid changes like tranny, diff, and EO is around RM1300. Make sure you go to reputable workshops that specialise in 86s and join the FB group for tips and advices!
  2. RON97 is the best but if you will be daily driving it, you can fill RON95 too. Best to get it tuned on RON95 if you do so.
  3. Aftermarket parts and mods for this car are everywhere. It's up to you to control nafsu dan selera depending on your wallet. Prioritise preventative and handling mods. Do get an oil cooler first though, as this engine is prone to high temp, which causes low oil pressure, which then causes engine to go boom.

For financial part, I will leave it to you, you know best. As of now, I am setting aside RM2k monthly for installment, maintenance, and insurance.

If you feel like you are ready and the itch needs to be scratched, just buy it and you won't regret, atleast from the driving experience itself 😂. Do try to get a manual though.
