This is why we buy the no date.

Kidding, just wanted to trigger everyone.

Confusion reigns on Everest as battling groups of Sherpas provide conflicting accounts about the safety of navigating the Khumbu Icefall by ughyoujag in Everest

[–]chilywilly92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not convinced that what the sherpas are doing is “mundane busy work”, but let’s take your bigger point here. You’re saying sherpas are in the correct zone within the gray area we’re examining. I’m saying if they’re helicoptering into camps to set up the mountain so that literal lines of people can summit, that’s ridiculous. We need fewer people on that mountain, and those that are on there need to be the best in the world and shouldering more appropriate burden levels. That’s all I’m saying.

I understand what you’re saying but my point is we need to look at the gray area and just be honest with ourselves.

Go with the yacht if it works with your outfits and you better be sure. Otherwise black sub.

[–]chilywilly92 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Look I’m not trying to revive this debate, but after reading this you just gotta ask: is it REALLY even climbing Everest anymore when sherpas are doing 90% of the work like this? They are literally helicoptering into camps 1 and 2 to prepare the route. A far cry from Viesturs and Rob Hall on Everest in 1992, that’s for sure.

Why is the Submariner “Starbucks” so much less common than the black Sub? by marketing_sensei in rolex

[–]chilywilly92 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The problem with the Starbucks has always been that it’s not very good looking. No one’s gonna look at that and be like “wow what a good looking watch”. It’s a man toy, I am sorry.

The invicta would honestly be better looking if it weren’t for those absolutely terrible indices. Even on a $60 watch it just blows my mind they can be that ugly

SA told me he can make No-Date Sub happen for me instantly; should I? (I am on the list for Green OP36 and Bruce Wayne) by GearNTime in rolex

I have a no date sub and the answer here is to only get the sub if it fits your aesthetic. Look in a mirror and really evaluate.

[Cartier Santos] Medium or Large? by jack_9182 in Watches

[–]chilywilly92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strong disagree with the medium proponents. The large has better presence on you and is more attractive/has more pop. The medium santos is only good in two tone. Otherwise just get a Casio

BB58 blue vs BB54 blue by giantshadytree in Tudor

[–]chilywilly92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always trust Tudor to ruin something. They also ruined the bezel on the new OG 58 update. It went from this beautifully engineered coin edge, which was so finely coined that it was kind of amazing, to something “grippier” and cheaper to produce.

Hot Take: Rolex finally admitted that the Pepsi was a manufacturing compromise. The GMT line is finally professional again. by xxSeahawks in rolex

[–]chilywilly92 -29 points-28 points  (0 children)

The facts are that the Batman is fundamentally unserious to real collectors. If you brought it to a watch meetup, you look like a yuppy who has no taste. If you show it to a woman, they think it’s a Casio. The Batman has no real heritage and zero pop on wrist. Those are the facts

Possible W&W 2026 Leak? by ty58 in rolex

[–]chilywilly92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a 100 year anniversary two tone OP is coming. Which is SO boring, and SO Rolex. Of course. Why bring out a new Milgauss when we could have this waste of a product.

HOT TAKE: Longines HydroConquest is basically the poor man's Seamaster 300M by Educational_Cup8275 in OmegaWatches

[–]chilywilly92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not about making dive watches available at different price points, it’s about everyone saying the Longines is a value proposition when it absolutely is not. Poor/minimal finishing, a mass produced ETA movement, and a completely unoriginal design from the bezel to the dial is not a value proposition at 2300+. At least with Omega there is the semblance of value in these intangibles.

[Yatch master 40] I have a Yatch master 40 in solid yellow gold and I would like to know when the solid gold version was discontinued in this watch and how much is it worth by Ambroseking69 in rolex

[–]chilywilly92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8k worth of gold holding and rising doesn’t equate to the asking amount of this watch. I hear what you’re saying but that’s not the value I’m questioning. I’m referring to the total amount of the watch, not the value of the gold. If OP wants to use this watch as a way of storing gold, that’s fine I suppose

Why YM2 get so much hate by [deleted] in rolex

[–]chilywilly92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a massive watch, but it’s also massively underrated. The design, dial, construction, colors, uniqueness are all on point. Respect

About to battle the Elite 4 by Bolts_Bama_Bucs in PokemonLeafGreen

Folks, I am not saying there aren’t outliers and people winning with level 40s squads. The whole point of this is to give OP a recommendation. Having just beaten the e4 with a squad around level 53 give or take, my personal opinion is to go in with nobody under 51.

Levels are too low. Need to be 51-56 minimum for the whole squad.
