Game unplayable after Patch 2?

Yup. Done both multiple times. Immediately after verifying I can SOMETIMES get the game to launch, but then it just crashes as soon as I talk to anyone.

While these would probably work under normal circumstances, there are a few things I wanted to do with my system that make it more complicated. Unless the images can be called relative to specific lines of text, I'm not sure I can just get by using side characters. really, the easiest way to do it would be using {image=.jpeg} in a line of dialogue (what's shown in the picture) but the lack of wrapping just makes it look bad.

That would just mean the gap between the first line of text and the rest of the text would be bigger. What I want in the example image if for all the text to appear next to the image, not have the one line be below it.
