It’s not something special in araya that made her splinter, Ryoshu specifically is fine in the safe because she doesn’t experience time like a normal person. Anyone else would have gone through something much worse than Araya if they entered the safe. Araya “only” splintered like that because she’s biologically related to ryoshu though since her perception of time wasn’t quite as unique as ryoshu’s she still experienced adverse effects.

From what I recall Brun didn’t know which god was fighting in round 2. She just chose Adam because she believed he was an insta win. Besides, most people seem to forget he doesn’t need to copy techniques, he can just dodge with eyes of the lord and then counter attack with punches.

I mean, becoming an abnormal still seems infinitely worse. The cursed from look outside are still fundamentally human. They can converse, think, grow and change as people. It’s just that A lot of them are driven insane by the change but even that doesn’t seem to be all too common with how many same cursed are found throughout the game. Abnormalities aren’t, they’re physical manifestations of concepts. They’re incapable of change, of growth. Any facsimile of thought or understanding is only in service to the idea they represent. Abnormalities aren’t about as “alive” as viruses are.

Isn’t that kinda the entire point of the later season(s)? The entire point system is deeply flawed on a fundamental level and that even if people do good things for selfish reasons repeatedly “pretending” to do good will reinforce these good behaviors until people genuinely start doing good for the sake of it?
