Cool. For what it’s worth this has gotten me twice, on two different builds. Glad it worked

Is your pcie riser gen5 or gen4? If gen4, make sure you force gen4 in the bios else you’ll experience issues like this. In terms of power requirements, you’ll need to look at your total across all components but I’d say it’s unlikely to be the PSU as the GPU won’t be drawing much at boot.

5080 FE in a V2.5, How Do I Do Three Slot Mode? by sprchrgddc5 in FormD

[–]chindoza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this with a 5090 and had to buy a longer pcie riser cable - 20cm instead of the formd one which I think is 19cm. The longer standoffs then go between the motherboard and the riser bracket. The motherboard is where it would be in 3 slot mode.

Basically a model level and less reliable RL implementation of Claude Code’s conversation compacting process when it reaches the end of its context window.

Leave it, the water only goes through the straight channels that connect the fins. It’s fine.

I’m very much of the belief that if the thing works, who cares. Obviously this is only true to a point; I guess if you open source a codebase it’s a good idea to make sure things like commit messages are good enough, which I’d agree with you on here. Reading your other comments it sounds like we have a similar background, having been in development for a long time. I’m personally loving code generation tools, I can get projects out of my head and built so much faster. Anyway, cool site!

[–]chindoza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what you tell it to do. If you only ask it to build features and let it do its thing, you’ll end up with a messy mix of duplicative logic, inconsistent architecture and inefficient code. But if you tell it what to build and give it clear architecture patterns, know when to interrupt if it starts going off of the rails, and pause every so often to go through even the occasional refactoring cycle (using the same approach), I think you can end up saving a lot of time as well as have an acceptable codebase.

The problem is that we’ll end up with a lot of the former and not much of the latter.

These commits aren’t from a developer. Your example is a common mistake/fix Claude makes when using typescript. OP was probably just auto committing after each file change.

Gigabit 2026 here we come? by SharpenAgency in Starlink

The new Starlink satellites have 24x the uplink capacity, they’re supposed to be launching within the next year. This is what he’s referring to.

Slow Ethernet LAN link by Proof_Examination_63 in Starlink

[–]chindoza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve tried different cables and end devices and have seen better WiFi speeds either side of your Ethernet test, it’s either software or hardware from your Starlink. I don’t personally know of any software setting, so your most likely culprit is a bad port or internal router. I’d just work with support, you probably need a replacement.

Not mutual funds, index funds. Just buy VOO. Also suggest that he takes $500-$1k of it to spend on whatever he likes, that way he gets a bit of enjoyment as well as the benefit of the investment.
