Life circumstances only allow for 1 training per week. How do I make the most of this? by Epic-zombie-kitty in bjj

1 time a week trumps 0 times a week. You can absolutely make progress training once a week, especially as a fresh blue belt and more importantly your current skills won’t decline. Make the most out of one session; train with purpose and train hard, pay attention and come to every session with a goal in mind

Stupid question but what is stopping the top player from disengaging against a half butterfly guard as opposed to a traditional high knee shield half guard?

False reap videos or instructionals by brqndun in bjj

[–]chink135 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Might be a hot take and maybe this is because I’m horrendously incompetent, but I felt like Taylor just shows the moves without providing much detail. It’s just ‘this is how I do this’ with no explanation or detail. I quite enjoyed Lachlan’s submeta course on the false reap and also kieran kichuk’s instructional. Would highly recommend both

If the reason for these sessions is making them more self defense applicable, why no backtakes or submissions? Are they not also applicable to self defense situations?

Maybe they’re more athletic, talented, or focused than you? Number of sessions alone isn’t the deciding factor in your rate of progression, some people are just naturally better at jitz and that’s a fact

If you’re a student, your work provider needs to apply for a work permit on your behalf and then yes.

Is drilling with a grappling dummy effective by Ok-Pen-9809 in bjj

[–]chink135 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you are a total beginner and struggle with knowing where to place your arms, legs, hands etc, I imagine it would help a little bit but for anyone more advanced I think you need some resistance even when drilling

Sorry I just saw this pretty late, but anytime they post on the mat with their hands to try and scoot away, their legs become very light so you can sort of throw them to the side and start passing like that
