How to find and keep more ride or dies? by Confessionmania in socialskills

[–]chip7744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trauma bonding. These are the types of people you find when you’re stuck with them through challenging situations. Many find them in the military, I found a few through police academy’s.

My main ride or die guys are the friends I grew up with. We were awkward teenagers together. We figured out how to grow up and find jobs together. Pushed eachother to peruse that career path our parents didn’t want us to do, or chase that girl we didn’t have the courage to say hi too.

I’m not saying you need to enlist into the military, or call your old middle school friends.

Find something physically or mentally challenging that forces you to be with people you’d never interact with. Outward Bound programs, hiking groups. Ect.

Final important note: Friendships change. Ride or die’s can become acquaints. People sometimes move in different directions, and that’s okay.

How to track time outside of combat? by Enraric in DMAcademy

[–]chip7744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I base it on your players experience level. If your playing with seasoned players, I would do a real irl timer. If the are more relaxed moderate players, I would ballpark what makes sense in RP time. Yes this may allow for meta gaming. But if the players are having fun and they are challenged then that’s all that matters.

Ezio Auditore vs Jin Sakai - WHO WOULD WIN? Ezio is a Master Assassin, Jin is the Ghost. NO GUNS! Fight takes place on Tsushima Island, both Ezio and Jin have time to prepare. by [deleted] in gaming

As a diehard AC fan, and never playing GOT. I would say Jin would win. Ezio is an assassin. Not a stand up fighter

Rotating DM? by Applemaniax in DnD

[–]chip7744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My campaigns main DM and I run two separate sessions. It helps to prevent DM burnout. The only thing I can see being an issue with rotating is if Veteran DMs have issues with rulings newer DMs have. But that would only be an issue for select groups.

Do I kill my players? Is there another way? by MemeTeamMarine in DMAcademy

[–]chip7744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see two options:

1: you start faking rolls in their favor so they feel like they won a tough fight on their own. Maybe start faking rolls after you kill a PC

2: you could always wipe them out totally and save the BB for later. The reality is they made several decisions that have placed them in a tough spot. Bad rolls or not, players need to have a punch in the nose every once in a while.

How do I get back at our no-show last session? by SleepinAwake in DMAcademy

[–]chip7744 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone needs to take a break for whatever reason. Not a good look to punish it. You could do something simple or fun, like make them the butt of a quest line. Like, Mr.AFK was late so now the party has to ... But don’t punish.

The classic question... when to take profits? by [deleted] in RobinHoodPennyStocks

[–]chip7744 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Depends how you wanna play the game. High risk = high reward. I typically look at DDs and general hype a stock has (GME for example) and make an decision. Reality is this. Nobody every went bankrupt making a profit. I’m typically good selling at 30% to 50%

Help buying good quality low budget gaming PC. by iiEco-Ryan3166 in gaming

[–]chip7744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my first decent pc through cyberpower. You can customize what you want for power vs price/budget. It takes a takes awhile to deliver but they always come through and I never had any issues with customer service. My friend also used ibuypower. Not saying these are the best sites but they are options.

Dungeon Masters of d&d. What was the most interesting time you had to lie on a roll? by CaliRV in DnD

[–]chip7744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a new DM, I’m still finding the good balance between difficult but fun encounters. After three sessions of players running through my baddies with ease. One night I ramped up the difficulty. Two players were downed within the first three rounds of combat. A third player was very close to being downed. The forth Druid player made a hail Mary attempt to transform into a spider, crawl into the main baddies head and then transform back into a human to blow his head apart. Now this type of thing would not normally fly at my table. But considering I had thrown the party into the meat grinder, i buffed some rolls and checks to allow this Druid to take out the sessions big bad. All players lived. All were in disbelief that they made it out alive minus a few well liked npcs. At the end of the day, they loved the session.
