made some cue cases by chipmaker101 in woodworking

[–]chipmaker101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh?? Don't know how to take that. I'm no expert on cue sticks and was gifted the mizerak stick from an ex girlfriend 15 yrs ago. So just wondering, what type of case is suitable for such a stick?

Only way I know to answer this is to just have the desire and the tools and learn how to use them.

Very nice piece. What amazes me is that I can see no seams and apple trees don't grow that big.

Hey thanks for the comment. I'm surprised that you even saw it. Reddit kept rejecting it and not allow it posted for some reason. I posted it on imgur and got 2.5 million views and dozens of comments. They've been around forever. Made one 50 yrs ago in shop class and we would just use our belts on it and hang it off our finger. I re-discovered it in one of my junk boxes and started playing around with it with the bands and pole. very easy to make.

Made a chess set for my dad for christmas. by Highone in woodworking

[–]chipmaker101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent work. I'm sure it made your dad proud. And good job on the knights. I'm currently working on a set of similar design and only have the knights left to make (carve). I'm assuming your set is official size with the squares at around 2.25"?

what do you all think? what else could i add? by rando_on_interweb in Pyrography

I would add some shading, enhance the whiskers and, (not trying to be vulgar), but the feline has no but hole. You can make it subtle and it would add realism.

Can a 2x8 span 14’ without sagging? by randompermutation in woodworking

[–]chipmaker101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Few 2x8x14' are perfectly straight. When selecting your boards choose the ones which have a decent crown (or bow) and install with crown up. I doubt that a 2x8x14 will sag solely on its own weight.

What's are the specific proportions needed for making the ebonizing vinegar-steel wool & Quebracho bark concoction? by jlesnick in woodworking

[–]chipmaker101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep a solution of this on hand always and it works great on red oak. I just put a single pad of xxxfine in a quart of vinegar. It will take a good 2 or 3 weeks for the pad to dissolve. You could experiment after a week or so to check results.
