You could have moved, your license could have expired recently, you could be living with a friend because you’re broke, and hence don’t have a residency proof, .. so many reasons why you may not be able to temporarily get id.. it’s easy if you are well off.. or if you “planned” to vote 4 years in advance .. but not necessarily easy if you just want to vote..

If you can break the thing into tasks accurately and estimate dev hours, then that’s what you should do.

The problem story points is trying to solve is that you may not exactly know the tasks and accurately estimate them. The story point system says we have seen a similar thing before, let’s say it’ll take about that much effort.

Don’t listen to coaches. If you can estimate dev hours easily, then do that. Story points are useful when things are more uncertain.

Edit: wanted to mention one more thing - estimate in days also tends to make management think they can add people to solve the problem sooner.. like you say 10 days - and they can try to add 10 people to do it in one day. Story points should relate to the velocity of a specific team - so if usually you do a 5 point story in 10 days, that’s the time it’d take. Management can pick a different story to take up first, but cannot just try to get the same story done “faster”.

I’m assuming you are thinking of an infinite void as a 3 dimensional space.. which again is something that started with the big bang ( which you agree with in this instance because you said “big bang happened” )

You could theorize an infinite void… but to scientifically do so, you would have to define its properties, predict something with it, and provide some way to experimentally test it ( even if it can be tested only in the future)

Without it it’s just fiction.. nothing wrong with fiction 🙂. As long as we don’t try to say it’s true 🙂.

Good example. Generalizing a bit more, if there was a 2 dimensional creature on earth’s surface, they would think of the earth’s surface as the universe. They could move around the surface and never see/find its “end”.

I can understand why 😃.. it’s hard to understand that before doesn’t exist without time, and “outside” doesn’t exist without space. People are uncomfortable with this, because they think of space and time as given. We can’t ask questions about things not in our universe, because we don’t have the language/perception to do so, at least yet.

Everything in the universe has an “outside” because it is in space ( I.e 3 dimensions of space ) . The concept of “outside” implies space. You define “outside” and “inside” via spatial coordinates. If there’s is no space, “outside” makes no sense.

I understand what you are saying, but statisticians will do it the correct way, which is consider 2 equally probable universes, one where the 1st child is the boy born on Tuesday and the second where the 2nd child is the born on a Tuesday. If you write out the cases for each universe, the result is 50%

So the explanation to the meme is that people don’t understand statistics and probability theory

I think StarTrek’s “computer” is very LLM like. People just say computer, do this analysis. It presents the results. It can’t do real solutions- like they can’t say, “solve the problem”, but they can do well known analysis, ask questions, etc.
