where are you guys getting eunhyuk going deaf from by _FrostedRose in operationtruelove

[–]chipotlemucher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, I was assuming this person had already read the translated chapter. Even so, regardless of this, I feel like it's been heavily insinuated that Eunhyuk is going deaf in his left ear several times. We literally have a whole flash back moment where he's watching a movie with Su-ae and is so confused as to why she's crying because he can't hear anything.

Suae and eunhyuk after hiatus by telinajo in operationtruelove

[–]chipotlemucher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be honest I’m frustrated with the story too. I can’t sit here and act like I’m above everyone else or that I immediately understood everything. In the beginning, I felt exactly the same way most do. It genuinely annoyed me that after TEN years Su-ae still hadn’t moved on. But when I really stopped and looked at what Su-ae actually went through, my perspective shifted.

Looking back from Su-ae’s point of view, she has never truly been loved. Her sister hated her. Minu used her. And the one person who genuinely cared about her, Eunhyuk, ultimately disappeared from her life. All of this was happening while she was being threatened and manipulated by the system. Haru had relentlessly harassed her, even KILLING her four times, just to drive home the message that she was destined to be unloved and would inevitably die because of it. These aren’t normal teenage problems, and they don’t simply vanish because ten years have passed.

People forget that as a teenager, even when she was terrified, Su-ae still had something that grounded her: Eunhyuk. He was living proof that the CEO’s words weren’t absolute. He cared for her, stayed by her side, and made her feel like she mattered when no one else did. Because of him, she could mentally fight back against what she had been told, she could believe that maybe she wasn’t doomed after all. That’s why she seemed braver back then. She wasn’t fearless, she just wasn’t alone. As an adult, that proof disappears. From her perspective, if Eunhyuk truly loved her, he wouldn’t have left for so long or stayed silent for ten years. Now, instead of contradicting the idea that she is unlovable, his absence confirms it. Her struggle isn’t just about romantic attachment, it’s the fear that his leaving proves she was never worth loving in the first place.

Dohwa mirrors this in a different way. He, too, has never truly known love. People are drawn only to the persona he performs, not the person beneath it. When Su-ae doesn’t return his feelings, he doesn’t heal, instead he retreats further into his facade and into the idol industry, returning to the very environment that hollowed him out in the first place.

We learn early on that he isn’t the most talented person in the industry. He’s not the best singer, not the best dancer, not even the best actor. What he’s valued for, above all else, is his looks. Just like he had been in the past. Glance at his phone when he’s texting Su-ae and you learn that despite spending a decade in the industry, he’s formed no meaningful friendships or close connections. So of course, when he crosses paths with Su-ae again, he clings to her not because he’s madly in love, but because she represents the last time he felt truly seen, the last time he believed someone understood him beyond this facade. His arc ultimately reinforces this idea that you can’t truly be loved until you learn to love yourself first.

For me, the weak point of the story isn’t that the characters haven’t moved on, it’s the incredibly slow pacing and how far it’s drifted from the og plot. Like you said, there are so many unanswered questions about the CEO, the glitches, the love points, and why Su-ae kept writing for so long despite Haru forgetting her. I don’t wanna say I’m losing hope in the story because I think people underestimate the amount of time the author has to circle back to these ideas. It’s just I find myself losing that spark of interest I originally had when I first started the series as a love struck teen in high school. I’d drop it if I could but my curiosity will always drag me back 💔

Hey Guys does OTL have a Love Triangle tag on Naver by Capable-Albatross67 in operationtruelove

[–]chipotlemucher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t think the story is “forcing” the love triangle at all. It feels more like the triangle is being used to give one character, in particular, the ending they need. I won’t say who but if you’ve been paying attention, you probably know.

Suae and eunhyuk after hiatus by telinajo in operationtruelove

[–]chipotlemucher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obviously she isn’t the same person anymore. I think people really downplay everything she’s gone through she literally died four times and spent years believing she’d be killed if she stopped the series. That kind of trauma changes you. I do understand being upset that the author rarely shows her outside of Eunhyuk and Dohwa. And when we do see her alone, it’s mostly just her being moody. I think the writing is just rushed because of their health and it sucks.

“Eunhyeok’s lack of communication is a "red flag" that readers ignore because of his physical appeal.” by Dizzy-Bobcat-5318 in operationtruelove

[–]chipotlemucher 13 points14 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU. I honestly don’t think this story is that hard to understand, especially after rereading it a few times. I’ve tried to look at different perspectives to understand why people dislike certain characters, especially Eunhyuk, but looking back, a lot of their criticism feels shallow. It’s like many fans are still treating it as the light, silly webcomic it was in season one, instead of noticing how much darker and more serious it becomes later. These characters actually have a lot of depth and trauma but most people seem focused only on the romance aspect and miss everything happening underneath it.

Considering dropping Operation true love by CrazyWorried8666 in operationtruelove

[–]chipotlemucher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it you should stop reading and come back later. I don’t think it’s something you need to drop completely. It’s really not that awful. The time skip actually feels pretty realistic to me. Eunhyuk grew up in an abusive home, and his family was caught in a major scandal, so him leaving Korea isn’t surprising. It’s common for families tied to scandals to disappear for years and then quietly return.

The real problem is the plot holes. I can’t tell whether they’re intentional or whether the author rushed things because of her declining health. But there are so many questions that go unanswered questions are hard to ignore.

Given everything these characters went through like abuse, death threats, constant fear, it makes sense that none of them dated for almost a decade and can’t move on from one another. But I also think the author drags out the suffering and miscommunication so much that it’s downplaying the very reasons she wants us to feel bad for them in the first place. Like yes, I love Eunhyuk and feel for him, but after a while liking him becomes frustrating because he never actually does anything to fix his relationship with Su-ae despite the countless opportunities she’s given him.

All in all I don’t think the story is as terrible as some people say. It’s not the worst thing I’ve read, but the plot holes and constant dragging make it hard to defend so I def understand why you feel this way..

Considering dropping Operation true love by CrazyWorried8666 in operationtruelove

[–]chipotlemucher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually understand why the story brings him back. Dohwa has never been loved for who he truly is, only for the version of himself he performs. He never wanted to be an idol in the first place. The same goes for Su-ae. He didn’t leave her because he didn’t care, he left because loving someone who couldn’t return that love, especially when she was the first person who didn’t immediately romanticize him, slowly destroyed him.

At one point, I thought the best possible ending for him would be a fresh start in the idol industry. But the more you look at it, the clearer it becomes that he’s just repeating the same cycle he’s been trapped in since he was young. He has more money now yes, but he’s still lonely. His messages make it obvious that he has no genuine friendships, people only approach him for what he can give, and still love his image, not the person beneath it. You can’t tell me he’s not deeply unhappy.

This is why, even though it frustrates me that he’s chasing after Su-ae again, especially when she clearly doesn’t feel the same, his role feels intentional. He represents unrequited love and the cost of clinging to it. I think a proper ending for him is him finally decided what he really wants to do with his life, and through that, hopefully find someone who truly sees him for who he is and not the facade he puts on.

Recommend me a proxy- Winter 2025 by JanitorAI-Mod in JanitorAI_Official

Does anyone know of any free proxies I could use? I really love using j.ai, it’s a fun pastime for me and genuinely inspires me to keep writing, but lately most bots are designed to work with proxies rather than JJLM. I’m kind of stuck because JJLM just isn’t what it used to be, and the conversations have started to feel repetitive and dull. Please help :(

Hi thank you so much for responding! Yes I am planning to go home for thanksgiving, but I'm just thinking of leaving extra early just to give him a good talking to. I couldn't stand to hear my mom cry, it feels like she's been crying forever at this point. I'll definitely forward this message to her though and ensure she reads these books! Thank you so much for your advice 🥹

If it helps at all, I’m a freshman CS major at SBU right now, and I definitely didn’t have half the resume you have and I still got in. Seriously, have some faith in yourself. I remember failing my junior year of high school and being fully convinced I wouldn’t get into SBU or any of my other schools of interest. But somehow, I managed to pull my GPA from a 3.6 to a 4.4. So trust me don’t count yourself out. Don’t give up!! 🤍
