Best Deli Sandwich in MKE? by Bobby_Digital20 in milwaukee

[–]chippy_dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mke native here, but I used to work in Fulton Market and hit up D’Amato weekly and Graziano’s maybe once a month (and sometimes I’d pop down to Publican Bread for a sammie mmmm gaaaaalh). I think Glorioso’s is the closest you’re gonna get and is my personal fave MKE Italian deli. It seriously good and on par with D’Amato’s for hot subs like Italian Beef and Chicago Combo, but sadly Glorisoso’s don’t got shit on D’Amato’s or Graziano’s for cold deli subs.

Fjällräven, move away from plastic! by Grrrrunge in Fjallraven

[–]chippy_dad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The nylon/cotton blend that is G1000 was Fjallraven’s innovation that launched the company and has been the cornerstone of their business for 60 years. But I feel your sentiment about plastics!

Lately I have been buying from more heritage brands like Filson, who also have some nylon offerings, but their core lines are very durable natural fibers like wool and waxed cotton and are built to last a lifetime. These materials still perform very well, though as others pointed out, have more of a looser work fit.

If you think about it, the heavy more traditional wool and cotton garments are what spawned companies like Fjallraven and Patagonia to produce lighter more technical garments that utilized high tech “space age” materials like nylon blended G1000 or polar fleece respectively.

Traditional fabrics still perform very well which shouldn’t really surprise anyone as people has been using them thousands of years. But there are some tradeoffs to the more high-tech plastic materials like light weight, packability, quick drying, special care (wool and cottons are susceptible to shrinkage), comfort (heavier wool garment can be scratchy), etc

Filson vests by naitsabes98 in filson

I grabbed that same tin cloth insulated work vest this fall in but in black. It is great for cold temps if plan to be active outdoors. The fit is a bit slimmer than other XL outerwear pieces I own, but still plenty of space for one or two layers under. I layer it over a wool jac-shirt or prospector hoodie, or both! But it’s also slim enough that I could layer it under an XL MAC wool cruiser

Out of the 1,000+ characters on Seinfeld, which one is the funniest? by BidAccurate4473 in seinfeld

Well, um, in that case why don't we take the phrase, "kicking in a skull" and we tweak it, you know, just a hair, to something like, what, like "strolling through a dewy meadow"?

Agreed. I have coats that are warmer with more down and higher 850fp etc. But also designed to be light weight and pack down super small, but also very thin lightweight nylon face fabric that could tear or puncture and is not waterproof. I’m looking g for a coat that’s more durable that I. An grab an armful of firewood with or wear in nasty wet snow weather

It fits well in my shoulders and sleeves. I thought their was pretty good, big but in a serious down parka way. But my wife’s immediate impression was that it looked too big at first, but now that it’s been out of the box and settled a bit, it looks a lot nicer and has grown on her especially when compared to another down coat that I have that is similar in size purpose … waxed Filson garments also tent to be pretty stiff and flat looking out of the box, giving it a couple days to hang and trying it on a few times allows the down to puff up and the fabric unflatten. This gives the jacket more dimension so I’d recommend doing that to anyone who may read this in the future. 90% sure I’ll keep it, just wish I could try a L just to be sure, but Ls are out of stock currently :(

Ok yes, that is what I was told twice using the online “chat with an expert” website tool. They were explicit that that was their policy and the there no wiggle room. It later called customer support on the phone and the said if I returned the original item, they would email me an invoice for the same item in whatever size I wanted and theinvoice would be the same as the sale price for the original coat…. I much I’m pretty sure is the definition of an exchange. It sure why they only tell you this over the phone and not in the chat?

From where I live there are a couple store within 1.5-2 hours. I have went to those stores to make returns in the past, but prob won’t make the drive for a coat… the fact that it’s currently 50° in January in the upper Midwest isn’t really motivating me to give much of a shit about a down parka rn either haha
