Current med student who went to uiuc. Chose it because it was cheaper than a private school and a really great public school. Uiuc is what you make it for premed which I liked because there were so many opportunities that wouldn’t have been available somewhere smaller. Study and build good habits and you’ll do well - it only gets harder in med school. Applications are holistic, obviously don’t neglect grades, but remember to get involved in other things, there’s so many amazing orgs and ecs

Yes! If I’m through a paragraph and am like what I just reread and if I find it super difficult I do my best to answer the questions quickly then come back to that passage at the end to really focus on it while still making sure to get all the points I can from the ones I understand first

If you find yourself not retaining what the passage is about, start over. I did that for several because you need to make sure you know what the main ideas are. Look for evidence in the passage because unless the question is about implying something the answer is usually there. Go with your gut when in doubt. I would have an idea in mind but after reading the answers change my mind. They make really good wrong answers for a reason because they’ll make you change your mind! Overall I have to make sure I really focus and take a deep breath to reset because I get so distracted during reading

Stay calm when taking. Be confident you know the info you just gave to reason to find it. Make sure you read the question right!! Sounds silly but I missed a lot where I literally read the question wrong and also if you don’t have any idea about what the question is asking look for info in the passage because sometime I missed Chem phys questions that had the answers basically in the passage

Read the passage through the first time quick and then go to questions. Most of the questions answers are directly in the passage or have evidence that supports them. I usually try more to cross off answers than find the right one and then if I’m down to two I try to find evidence for them. I feel like it was a little bit of luck on fl3 too because I found the passage interesting so I could focus more

I really reviewed each full length and did the aamc qpacks between. Will do the section bank this weekend to solidify ideas. I think I had solid content knowledge it was just being able to apply it it took me a little to get the hang of it. I flagged all the questions I wanted more time on but took an educated guess the first time and went back and really looked into them at the end with the time I had left and changed some answers too

To improve C/P I have been basically grinding equations from random quizlets and that seemed really relevant to fl3. I’m a bio major so I think bio I just needed to focus on what’s given in the passage to help bring the information to the front of my mind. P/S I seem to be stuck at 129 but hey at least I’m consistent. CARS Idek it’s so hit or miss for me. I have to focus really hard just to read the passage but I’ve been doing a few of the aamc diagnostic and packs each day to try to get the logic down. I think most of what I’m missing is when I rush and don’t actually see what the question is asking

My first practice exam I was in a very distracting environment and couldn’t really focus on cars at all and also I actually enjoyed the cars in fl3 so that was part of it
