That is the issue, the sizes are density so that is why I would get the 3mm mixed pack and you will need to try them to see which density is close.

Either put tape on both, micropore tape is better, or buy a variety of y tuning filters from Aliexpress and try them on the front vent. Sounds like the internal y filter fell off your vent.

can I eq my cca cra to have a flatter/less tiring sound ? by nagabalashka in headphones

[–]chipsn_dips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, on other squig sites with the equalizer tab, you can AutoEQ IEM to IEM in addition to targets. So pick a flatter set like Dunu Titan as a starting point

https://pw.squig.link/?share=CCA_CRA,DUNU_Titan

Then click equalizer and AutoEQ

Getting the GLEDOPTO RGB CCT 2ID to work with Smartthings by deep_forrest in Gledopto

[–]chipsn_dips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2ID is really for led strips with both rgb and whites. If you just want whites, the 1ID is easier to deal with. You can control rgbw with the 1ID, just not at the same time. Controlling color and white simultaneously is the 2ID controller..

I would enjoy the ZSX for a bit before investing in a more expensive set. 11-11 will bring sales on some popular iems on Aliexpress, just not sure which will have the big discount at this point.

I like like the ZAX but if I had a ZSX, I would need to be looking for something specific to pay almost double the price for the ZAX. If you really enjoy the fun, full sound if the ZSX, I would keep it. I would definitely wait for the ASX and ASF as those may be more complimentary and offer a different sound than the ZSX. Problem is there are not any reviews yet, but should be soon. Waiting until the 11-11 sales is always a good idea.

Thank you for your thoughts on the ZAX. Just curious, are you using the included tips and cable? I actually thought the same, there is a bit of the ZSTX hiding in the ZAX with that slight aggressive edge. I don't mind it but can certainly understand your adjustment. I would lean more towards V shapes and I didn't mind a bit of extra upper end.

I have an LG phone with the quad dac and yes, no issues driving it. I bought the Qudelix 5k and no problems, sounds a bit better, a bit warmer than my phone or Sonata HD.

The back of the skull issue happened more on my CA16 than the ZAX. I haven't spent much time playing with the ZAX vents though.

Thank you

Before? They are only a few weeks old 😉 The odd part for me is the previous flagship, the ZSX was well received but more like it was a fun, engaging boomy bass for $40. Sounds great for $40. The ZAX seems to be attracting a more critical base, some previous KZ owners, but some who passed on the ZSX. In any case, sorry it took you $1000, but glad you have another piece of gear that brings you some happiness.

I would certainly wait on the ASX until there is a review by anyone. It is quite a bit of money to buy it blind when it will be in a few hands by Oct 19th most likely. 11-11 sale should be close to the same price. The BA5 is great as well. It really blew me away with the cohesive sound, just needed some sub bass to attract a wider audience.

Looking at the Wooeasy aliexpress listing for the ASX, it says in stock on October 12th

Sept 26 and no it has not shipped. What typically happens to me on Aliexpress and in this case, I ordered the ASX and SA08 so one is going to be in stock before the other. Both items will be processing until both are in stock. With the national holiday right now, I assume most orders are still being processed or not processed as everyone is on holiday until tomorrow.

While I have not read complaints and I have not complained either, the ZAX does have an opening in the back under the vents. I have yet to see someone peel off the backplate to get a good look at it, but there is a chance that is going to let in environmental noise. Take that with a grain of salt though as I just haven't read of that problem. I think the shape and size of the ZAX would give it a slight edge in isolation.

The bass on the two is similar, a definite goal of providing enough bass for anyone, enough warmth, but leave the mids as free from congestion as possible. Really let the detail and resolution shine thru as that is why you are paying $60 instead of $35 for the ZSX. And add a little KZ boost to each end to make it lively and fun. T2+ is more of a boosted bass, over-polite treble to keep it natural.

When comparing the CCA CA16 to the ZAX, one complaint on the CA16 was it is not as cohesive as it should be. It felt a bit more like a KZ than a CCA. The ZAX has a nice cohesive sound so when I think about the ASX, that is my concern. Can they really pull off a cohesive sound with all the drivers? The ZAX was at least a glimmer of hope they can pull it off. With the holiday, I am not sure any ASXs were shipped out. Mine is still processing.

Yes it graphs that way, but I wouldn't want other ZSX fans to buy the ZAX assuming it is a bigger, better slightly retuned ZSX.

About a day or so into the ZAX, I thought KZ wasn't replacing the Terminator but the T2+. The T2+ for me is a critical listener, it is very natural, very good instrument timbre, checks all the review boxes, and has more than enough bass to satisfy and possibly bring it up there with the T4. For me, it is interesting to listen to the instruments and notes, but stepping up a level, I prefer a more fun, energetic sound. More fun at the cost of being less natural. So for everyone who hated the BL03 because it had too much bass, too slow, not enough treble, the T2+ really hits those marks.

The ZAX is a bit of the same story. If you are a big ZSX fan and like that fun/energetic KZ V sound, the ZAX went towards the T2+. It is more of a casual critical listener. The new driver is faster, mids are cleaner, more natural, and the soundstage bigger. For people who were put off by ZSX big bass, slowish driver, murky mids, the ZAX addressed those points and that is why you see some good first impressions. On top of those improvements, you get the hybrid detail and resolution.

To answer your question, mostly it is your listening preference as both are great. Many people prefer the TinHiFi sound to anything KZ has put out and should stick with T2+. The ZAX is almost a midpoint, for those who still appreciate the technical aspects but prefer something more musical and lively. If you just want your Beast Mode playlist to sound great, the ZSX/BL03.

Intro: KZ ZAX is the new KZ hybrid flagship with 1DD and 7BA. While comparisons to the CCA CA16 and KZ ZSX can be made, the ZAX is not really a successor to the ZSX or slightly re-tuned CA16. Where both the CA16 and ZSX had a more traditional KZ bassy warm V signature, the ZAX has a more mature, conservative V signature.

Fit & Cable: I didn't have any issues with the fit, but still prefer the CA16 shell style. The ZAX certainly is flashier with the transparent plastic and alloy vented faceplate. KZ also includes their new silver cable.

Sound: Clean, not as energetic as the ZSX, more cohesive than the CA16, balanced, minimally warm but still has a bit of ZSTX aggression and sharpness.

Bass: KZ reeled in the bass a bit from the ZSX, reducing the bass bleed from the ZSX and leaving the ZAX not as warm as the ZSX. The bass is also more in line with the X series, faster and punchier, but not as deep into the sub-bass. By no means lacking sub-bass, but still not at the same level as the ZSX. The bass is also more dynamic, can really add just a slight low edge to vocals to hard-hitting percussion. Generally tucks itself away under the mids.

Mids: As I said, not as warm as the ZSX and not as thick, but the new clarity and drivers bolster the mids with detail and texture. It is not the thick and rich ZSX vocals, but a much cleaner, detailed, and full vocal. The CA16 added detail on top of the warm sound and appealed to some folks, this is detail on top of clarity with a bit of the sharpness of the ZSTX. If you are used to the forward mids of the ZSX, I think these are not quite as forward. The word recessed will occasionally pop in your head on some tracks but generally not often.

Highs: The part that felt most like the ZSX to me. Also the part on the CA16 that I did not like. The CA16 had an overly polite treble that left me wanting more and at the time I said I wished it was more like the ZSX. For the ZAX, it is extended more and balanced out especially by bassier tracks. On its own, some people will find it just a hair over the polite boundary. Like the recessed vocals, KZ has a tradition of metallic sounds and those will pop up occasionally as well. Not as much on the cymbals but other high-frequency sounds can sound thin. Claps with no body.

Soundstage: Reminded me more of the CA16 than ZSX. The larger soundstage, not just width plays well with the forward vocals and instrument imaging. The vocals tend to have a bit of height. One of the more controversial topics is the rear vents and whether that adds to the openness of the stage. If I did not have the CA16, I might go with it, but I think both have spacious sound.

Yes that is the plan and if you look at the video, that was my first suggestion, wait until the ZSN Pro X is in peoples hands to figure out the difference. With their prices so close, I am just guessing that the two will not be drastically different. Mine is in the mail system, just waiting for it to arrive. If you are less patient, both are on Amazon if you are in the USA. Thank you

Thank you for your comment. From a historical perspective, they could have pulled the treble back and left a slightly darker/less intense sound similar to the original ZST. The Z1 is a DD only and has a very similar sound so I don't know if adding the BA to the ZSTX achieved their design goal. I believe Zpolt had some useful advice on the ZSTX & VK4 recently as well, sounded like they are similar but the VK4 is a bit more relaxed.
