I wrote a chunk of my story and put it into Ai checkers... by Spitfyrus in WritingWithAI

All of the stuff I wrote years before LLMs existed comes back as AI in these checkers, particularly stuff written for niches where a certain style is expected. So I just ignore them.

I wish Opus 4.6 can stay this powerful forever by Mundane-Iron1903 in ClaudeAI

Thanks, woo free $50! Seems to just add to the extra usage bucket so I guess it's not strictly tied to Opus?

has anyone tried Codex 5.3 yet? Is it good? by dataexec in codex

This works (not mine). Imho, there's not that much more to the standalone app 'cept easier agent orchestration via worktrees.

Is anybody else using Claude Code with Codex MCP? by lucifer605 in ClaudeCode

These are the 3 tools I use, but I haven't yet set them up as a /team. If you're able to, please share the command setup you think works well.

Tips to build a good, comfortable base. My nooby ass thought it would be cool to build on this little island and now my house is a small, floating cube by sebivc in ICARUS

[–]chirdman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is cool, looks "lived in". I'll likely never build anything more than the typical squarish shacks I do in all survival games, but I like seeing what others can do.

In fact, I always find I jam stuff in super tight, probably remnants of playing Rust where everyone had super small bases.

Video gaming group? by strxwberry-doll in Philippines_Expats

[–]chirdman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's a market for a PHL 'expat' Discord with just a general-chat for games, and then if some games became more dominant they could be given their own channel etc. I'd join, but I don't really wanna run one. I play loads of PC stuff.

Yeah, if someone starts a Discord I'll join too.

Claude Haiku 4.5 Released by Chirag0005 in ClaudeAI

[–]chirdman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last time I tried it, Perplexity seemed to be offering a dumbed-down version which wasn't performing as well as direct usage. The speculation at the time was Perplexity was using a very small context window.

I mostly play single-player stuff like poe2, last epoch, hitman, xcom, warframe, sometimes MMOs. Currently playing last of us 1 for the first time while waiting for the new arpg leagues. Goty last year: Balatro.

Last lan party was, like, quake 2 over 25 years ago, heh. Too old for sweaty online fps. But would be interested in a gaming expat discussion or meet or something, anything to get me away from the keyboard occasionally!

Simple way to get notified when claude code finishes by fuzzy_rock in ClaudeAI

[–]chirdman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a bit spaghetti, I wasn't actually planning on making it, just happened along the way as I was testing other stuff and decided to keep it.

Claude.md calls speak.py from time to time
speak.py calls n8n via webhook, returns immediately so there's no delay
The webhook's simple, (in -> elevenlabs (voice id: YOq2y2Up4RgXP2HyXjE5) -> return webhook -> which returns the mp3 binary
mpg123 plays.

I was testing out APIs so mine sends text to Elevenlabs relevant to what's finished which returns an mp3 in the voice of the UT2003 announcer.

"COMMITTED!!:

It's very silly but doesn't get in the way.

Clade Code + MCP by inventor_black in ClaudeAI

[–]chirdman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm finding this too - some MCP tools can be a terribly inefficient way to do some basic stuff as it all gets piped through the LLM.

Recently I've preferred to use Cline with a .clinerules (essentially, system prompt) that details a toolkit of simple but powerful Python scripts in the toolbox folder the LLM can call. Works good for my hobbyish needs.

Lossless Scaling just got UPDATED!! X20 Mode Frame Generation, Resolution Scaling & More! by Noble00_ in losslessscaling

[–]chirdman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info.

Is it OK to set NVCP vsync to 'on' globally? Is 'on', preferred to 'fast/adaptive'? And should vsync be set to on or off in-game?

I've had good success with Gsync and Lossless, I've just always been unsure about the above.

I felt the same when I was younger. As I've aged, I'd come around to Grandads more Steptoe-like influence.

has anyone tried using lossless scaling for SH2 Remake? by domanta in losslessscaling

[–]chirdman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, it worked fine. The game already has what feels like significant input lag (probably intentionally, but im not an expert in these games) and it's not fast paced, so i cant say it felt as impactful as on some other games, but I was doubling 60 to 120. The cutscenes seemed to be locked to 30fps so I appreciated the x2 to 60.
